civcity three gold and civcity rome won't install

Hey I really hope someone can help me with this problem!

I bought a cd combo pack with civcity three gold edition and civcity rome. It gave me problems installing and when I tried to open civcity rome it says: This application has failed to start because d3dx9_27.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I tried reinstalling but the same problem occurred. I don't know what to do!!

When i try to open civcity three gold edition it says to insert the game cd, but it's already in the computer! I don't know what to do about this either!

Try installing it manually, not from the main menu that comes up. I did this and it still didn't work but at least it installed...it said there was a "font error",the guy like three threads down said he got a patch for Conquests and was able to play it. For $15 more you can get Civ III complete without all the bugs this one has,everyone seems to have problems with it.Good luck man : )

yeah i did install it manually but then that other stuff i said in my last post happened and they wouldn't open. oh well, thanks anyways

The problem I was having was with the d3dx9_27.dll driver as well. I googled microsoft and went to the microsoft help and support page. When that page opens go to - get help with error messages. Just type in the name of the driver and it will come up with one result. take it, download the direct x and you will be fine. I am thinking that for whatever reason the direct x software on the civ city rome disc may be incomplete or corrupted? I also have the 2 pack game with civ 3 gold edition on it. Give it a shot. That's what I did and it's working fine now! Even after installing the software twice. It already is installed, you just can't open it because the driver is bad. Hope that helps.

you need to download DX9C Distributable, thats part of the old DX9 and requires the distriputable not the webdownload
