I'm working on what may become a very controversial and politically incorrect, yet highly believable and realistic, mod/scenario of a civil war in America in the year 2020.
The basic premise is that the weight of the U.S. National Debt and a number of other economical factors trigger a catastrophic economic collapse within the United States. Trade and production comes to a halt, fuel runs dry, grocery stores empty, chaos ensues, society collapses in many regions, most cities lose 2/3rds of their population from mass starvation or refugee emigration, new nations are born, new lines are drawn, and civil war rages across the land. America is in flames!
The Factions
1. The United States of America - A region where martial law and order was able to maintain loyalty to the federal government of the United States. Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine.
2. Latin Alliance - A Hispanic uprising reforms the region under its rule. Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and southwest Texas.
3. Republic of America - A mass exodus of hundreds of thousands of predominantly former Republican Party and Tea Party supporters flood into this region and create a new republic. Northeast Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Central and Northern Colorado.
4. Eagle Nation - A confederation of Native American tribes seizes the moment. Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota
5. New Zion - A Mormon theocratic state just wants to be left alone, but yet it aggressively proclaims ownership of Nevada after it becomes a ghost state. Utah, Nevada.
6. Angloland - Small ultra-extremist state of radicals. Idaho
7. The Pacific Pact - A reformed nation with communist-like ideals. Washington, Oregon, Northern California
8. The Turmoil States - The people of this region tried, but could not agree on a central government and the region remains up for grabs. The territory is dotted with individual city states. Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, South Carolina.
9. Canada - Allied to the United States.
10. Mexico - After initially allying itself with the United States, the Mexican national government suffers a rebellion of its own and is overthrown. The newly reformed Mexican government allies itself with the Latin Alliance.
