Civilization 7 Soundtrack/Music discussion

Is it just me or are there echoes of Cup of Gold (the actual Qing anthem) in there?

Since my earliest known ancestor was born in the late Qing Dynasty, that theme resonated with me.

Do we know what song/songs it’s based on yet?

When are they gonna upload the French Empire's theme to Youtube? I'm leaning towards it being a Roland Rizzo composition, since he did Civ6's France theme.

We got a quote of their anthem this time. Wonder how that will tie in to the rest of the theme. (Please don’t just be La Marseillaise…)

You can hear bits of sort of jazzy, stereotypically French accordion music later on that I assume are also part of their theme.

In before the British theme gets its hook from God Save The Queen, while the rest is Over The Hills and Far Away.

It's here and it is delightful

Can any French people identify the musical inspirations for the rest of the theme, besides La Marseillaise? The Parisian sounding music especially.

can't wait to hear the rest of the Modern Civ themes, especially Meiji Japan, the Mughals, Buganda and Siam!

It is French alright :P

Nice first half - I dig the accordion bits - but the second half was a bit dull for my taste. I don't hate it, but I think Roman industrial theme in VI did the whole "slowly escalating same melody on loop for three and half minutes" thing better.

WOW that art is an on-the-nose reference.

Don't take that as a complaint, though. They wanted this design to reference revolutionary France and I can't think of a more emblematic painting for that than Liberty Leading the People. Is it fair to compare that to Washington Crossing the Delaware?

It really is an obvious reference to Liberty Leading the People, but then they increased the Revolutionary flavor even more by adding in street barricades. It makes me want to break out in songs from Les Meserables.
