Civilization 7 Soundtrack/Music discussion

I've heard elsewhere it's based on Amed nesim-i subh-dem, which is by ibn Ghaybi. The wiki page seems to imply that it would have been been played in the Ottoman Empire in the 17th/18th centuries.
That makes sense to me. It's similar to how Civ6's Arabian theme has different names depending on the culture and is claimed by both Arabs and Turkish peoples.

I am not super impressed by the Ottomans' music, although I haven't been a fan of the Civ 5 version either (and it was made by Knorr too, if I recall correctly!). I remember that the Ottoman war theme for 5 was very unexciting, but that tends to be my impression when it comes to Turkish military marches.

Also, I am DREADING the upcoming Icelandic music. Please, PLEASE, let it not have renaissance instruments at all. They have no place there

Iceland theme is up!

A little repetitive, but pretty cool and badass imo

Drum beat intro to maintain a regular meter, with a folk song that repeats twice in crescendo. There will be no deviation and it will continue until morale improves.
Such a witty and accurate statement. I can only nod. Well done, sir.

I hate to diss on an artist who's made wonderful compositions to Civ music in the past, but... I know how this sounds without even listening to it.
Not having played more than two hours of Civ 6, I don't feel particular attached to Rizzo. And having played Iceland yesterday, it only reinforces my dislike for his composition style. The Icelandic track could be a wonderful start for an adventure through the oceans. Instead, it's just tired and predictable.

Also, I've been listening to the Civ 6 soundtrack on my own and there are many standouts, but I wasn't surprised to learn afterwards that most of the tracks I didn't care for were composed by him. I think it was a mistake to give him half of the soundtrack for Civ 7 and it shows. It wouldn't be fair to give all of it to Knorr, however, so I insist that Firaxis should hire more composers.

I think Rizzo has some standouts for Civ 7, such as Meiji Japan, Russia, Pirate, Spain, and Majapahit themes (in my opinion), but otherwise they feel all the same, some drum beat at the beginning, and then a folk song in the middle, and then ending with another drum beat
