I play old games on my old-gaming WinXP PC.

I installed C:CtP from an ISO, patched it to 1.2 and tried to run (having ISO mounted). Game starts fine only with compatibility set to Win95 on ctp.exe. But now I have a problem: the only two screen resolutions I can run are 640*480 and 1024*768. But I'd want to set it to 800*600 as the most comfortable on my Syncmaster 971p monitor. When I do it via in-game Options-Graphics settings, nothing changes, and the game still runs in 1024*768 (my usual monitor resolution), and the only other option that works is 640*480 (very big and pixelated GUI and bad fonts). I tried to change it in userprofile.txt, setting TryWindowsResolution to No, and manually setting Width and Height to 800 and 600 respectively. The game begins to run, the black screen appears with the CtP hand cursor in the middle of it, frozen, and then it drops to desktop. The most strange thing is that I can't make a screenshot of this error, PrtScr and Screenshot Captor shot the desktop background image for some reason, and Fraps shots absolutely nothing.

DxWnd doesn't help.

Any ideas about this issue and possible ways to mend it?
