Hey everyone,

It’s been nearly 11 years since I last released a mod for Civilization V, and after a long break, I’m excited to return to modding with a brand-new project: Modern Day World Leaders. Some of you may remember my previous work, the Days of Sadat collection, which became the 26th most popular mod collection of all time on the Steam Workshop.

Now, I’m turning my focus to the present day with Modern Day Leaders, a collection that brings today’s global figures into Civ V with fully customized abilities, traits, and playstyles.

About the Project:

In this new collection, I’m creating a roster of modern-day leaders, each offering a unique playstyle based on their real-world influence. Whether you’re navigating complex diplomacy, wielding economic power, or commanding military strength, these leaders will reflect the distinct challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

Why I’m Here:

Although I haven’t released anything yet, I wanted to gauge the community’s interest and gather some early feedback. After being away from modding for so long, I’m eager to hear your thoughts and ideas as I continue developing the mod.

I’ll be sharing more details and updates soon, but for now, I’m excited to see what the CivFanatics community thinks about this new project!

Are you focusing on leaders currently in power in 2024 or for all of the 21st century?

Are the civs based on modern-day nations or are they simply "containers" for their leaders? For example, an Obaman civ instead of an American one.

Will unrecognised countries or paramilitary organizations also feature? Like Hezbollah and the Taliban?

Hey,

My primary focus will be on current leaders in power in 2024. I plan to keep the civilizations based on their modern-day nations, but the leaders will be the defining feature of the civs. So, rather than creating leader-specific civs like an "Obaman civ," Barack Obama (for example) would still lead the United States, with traits that reflect his particular leadership style, policies, and influence during his tenure. Each leader will bring unique abilities and gameplay that reflect their real-world strengths (e.g., diplomacy, economics, military prowess), but their civ will still represent the nation they lead or led.

This is an interesting idea! (Like Hezbollah and the Taliban) I’m currently focusing on recognized global powers and leaders of sovereign nations for the base project. However, I’m open to exploring unrecognized countries, paramilitary organizations, or influential groups in future expansions or updates. I’d want to handle those carefully, especially in terms of balance and gameplay mechanics, but there’s definitely potential for representing non-state actors or entities like Hezbollah or the Taliban in a way that adds depth to the mod.

Right Now I have already completed 3 CIVS for this collection, I am waiting to launch them soon.

So far here is the list and where they are at:

Arab Republic of Egypt - Abdel Fattah el Sisi ( Completed - Testing Phase)
Kingdom Of Morocco - Mohamed VI ( Completed )
State of Israel - Benjamin Netanyahu ( Completed - Testing Phase )
Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia - Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud ( In Progress )
United Arab Emirates - Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ( In Progress )
Federal Democratic of Ethiopia - Abiy Ahmed ( In Progress )
USA - TBD ( In Progress )
Turkey - Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ( In Progress )

I’d love to hear your thoughts on that direction, and I’ll keep everyone updated as the project evolves! Thanks again for the feedback—it’s super helpful as I fine-tune the vision for the mod
