No to all. I'll see if there's any last-minute guesses before I give out the answer.
Is the island Nova Scotia?
Not even close. If I gave it out, that would make it too easy.
Nope. I'll give out the answer now- It was Limerick. I thought I made it fairly obvious with the first clue, but apparently not. The bit about the Vikings was just to do with Limerick being conquered (and essentially founded) by them. The limerick had a few references in it; the first line was about the motto, second about it being Ireland's city of culture this year, third about William of Orange (not the one in Civ), fourth another reference to the motto, and fifth referencing the Treaty of Limerick.
Well, that was a hard one. I'll make this one easier.
