The third clue suggests hills to me, while the other two...maybe Washington, D.C.?

    CORRECT! (poor, poor cpm4001...)

The last clue of course refers to the "over the hill" characterization often given to elders.
Going back to the beginning, the character Cotton Hill (note the uppercase "C" in the clue) is Hank's father on King of the Hill, which took place in Texas.
The subject of clue #2 is "Professor" Harold Hill from The Music Man, who claimed to hail from the Gary Conservatory of Music, gold medal class of '05. Marian the librarian points out that Gary, IN in fact wasn't incorporated until 1906.
Finally, there's a children's song called "The Noble Duke of York" (aka "The Grand Old Duke of York") where the title character marches his 10,000 men up to the top of the hill and down again. And now that this round is concluded, perhaps I can get that song out of my head (damn you, Barney, and damn you, Sprout On Demand for your measly 4-episode queue!).

Note to scoreboard moderator: not sure how often you update, but I believe I'm up to 3 points now.

    Take it, wayneb64!
