Did they say anywhere about how much it will cost on iOS? I’ve been trying to find the answer.
I would assume that iOS is grouped in with the consoles. Ed explained in the livestream that they were having business-end issues having it ported to consoles. Aspyr is the company who has done all the ports so far.Did they say anywhere about how much it will cost on iOS? I’ve been trying to find the answer.
No, the Leader Pack is being released for iOS but it's being sold as its own DLC since Apple probably has some rules against giving away something like it. It doesn't seem like its being released at a different time but a price hasn't been announced yet, from what I've seen.I would assume that iOS is grouped in with the consoles. Midnight sun’s needs would seem more appropriate for these IMO… they are going live on dec 2nd but already 4 DLCs have been announced in the season pass so…Oh lol, I just looked on Firaxis's careers page and they are hiring an "Xbox Graphics Engineer" and a "Playstation Graphics Engineer". That explains a lot - they may be looking to bring the console versions in house going forward.

It may be Apple. It may also be Aspyr. I believe Aspyr is actually the publisher on iOS and decides these things. They might not have the same motivation to be giving away content for free for player goodwill/Civ 7 pre-hype - especially if say 2K hasn't actually given them any guarantees that they'll get console/iOS publishing rights for Civ 7.
Is Aspyr's lack of fixing the game at all similar to Firaxis's own turning a blind eye to ongoing bugs?Updates are likely part of the contract. It's worth noting that Aspyr hasn't been fixing the game anyway, which might be a motive for Firaxis to ditch them.
As for getting paid, it depends on the contract. They could be being paid by Firaxis to do the port, more likely they're doing it via franchisement - Aspyr pays Firaxis for the the right to do the port and then Aspyr gets the income from the consoles.
Aspyr isn't the publisher, 2K is. Aspyr is only handling the porting of the game. They don't have any real say over what gets released when and for how much. 2K is literally paying them to port the game.I believe Aspyr is actually the publisher on iOS and decides these things.
Because updates aren't DLC content? I literally said "something like it" as in, free DLC, not generic updates that Apple has no problem with. Also, the fact that you have to own previous expansions to get the Leader Pack for free might be the issue because Apple's system doesn't have a way to identify ownership across multiple products or something. How do they handle updates then?
I'd say worse; I've seen Firaxis fix their bugs. Aspyr has pushed through fixes that Firaxis has done - for example, that game breaking bug a few years ago was patched the same time as PC - but I've yet to see Aspyr fix their own bugs. There are several bugs that they've introduced, some really obvious and should never have passed QA, that have not been touched for twice as long as the Science Bug (which I can understand how it slipped by QA, even if I don't think it's forgiveable how long they've ignored it).Is Aspyr's lack of fixing the game at all similar to Firaxis's own turning a blind eye to ongoing bugs?
any updates are good at this point... I REALLY want to play as Abraham Lincoln myself... and be able to create religion as Kongo.well
tomorrow we will find out about a possible patch
Hopes arent too high it will be substantial. But lets see

If I remember rightly, you play on the Switch, and the Switch isn't getting the pass in the foreseeable futureany updates are good at this point... I REALLY want to play as Abraham Lincoln myself... and be able to create religion as Kongo.

It's possible? I wouldn't count on it though. Caesar was added to encourage 2K sign ups. I'm not sure what the purpose would be for other suprise leaders. Maybe as a final hurrah, although the whole pass seems to be one, so no real niche for further surprise leaders from where I'm standing. Is there a chance to see new surprise leaders like Julius Caesar?
no I don't. That was LONG LONG time ago. I play on laptop now. ASUS laptop. If I remember rightly, you play on the Switch, and the Switch isn't getting the pass in the foreseeable future![]()
That's my understanding. Probably them dipping their toes into the console market, let Aspyr take the risk (and the initial profits), and if it goes well, then deal with it in-house for future instalments. Or hire someone to do it for them.My impression is it's more akin to the latter - Aspyr is the one paying Firaxis for the right to port and getting paid from the sales. That's how they started as a Mac gaming publisher decades ago at least, and my assumption is it's continued in that vein.
Cool, I'm glad you'll get the cool leaders!no I don't. That was LONG LONG time ago. I play on laptop now. ASUS laptop.
( Plus I can play with mods)
