Civilization VII Update 1.3.1 - December 9, 2025

Is anyone else seeing a lot of screen tearing of the maps after the patch? Like jagged white fault lines everywhere (grey when not in shadow). It’s a shame, it’s ruining the beauty of the maps.

If it is what I think it is (a screenshot would be helpful), then I had it solved by switching from Vulcan to DirectX.

Found the patch note now, so editing:
  • The player’s Diplomacy panel now automatically opens on the player’s civ and leader uniques, and now shows Traditions. For items with a prerequisite tech/civic, the unlock requirement is now also listed.
For the live of me, I can't understand why, and the patch note provides no clues. It's a bit of an UX fail, honestly.

Specifically, it is extremely annoying when I'm trying to check which independent powers are currently unclaimed. Before you had to do this click:
View attachment 750066
Then click on one here:
View attachment 750067
and then click on the city portrait to go back to this list. As of 1.3.1, I always get sent back to the wrong tab:
View attachment 750068
So I need an extra click on the heart to go back to what I was doing.

Please revert this.

I'd agree except instead of "Please Revert this", I'd say:
Please make the IP menu it's own button on the main screen, not under the player profile.
And show what 'type' of IP it is
And bring me to the IP on the map when I click on it (unless it's unmet, tho in that case, maybe don't add it to the menu)

You know, how it used to be behave in 6...

Well, that would be ideal, but reverting is still an improvement, and less work.

Personally, I would like it if they put in the work. 😀
Not sure I get your point. They're putting in plenty of work with the monthly patches, and - while still far from perfect - the game has been largely improved with each of them. This is just a minor change they got wrong, which should hopefully be easy to revert.

I think Civ and leader abilities should just be moved to the unlock menu. It goes better with that information as it all pertains to the direction of your empire. Then instead of the icon being an unlocked lock, change it to a banner or something like in Civ4 where your banner offered civ info. Maybe change the lock icon to your civs icon or something.

But I agree IPs should have an easy to identify and manage menu.

Another impression after some games with the new patch:
On the shattered seas map, the AI builds naval units like there's nothing else in the game.

Yeah, would kill for a menu with all the IP, what type they are, and a little leaderboard to see what points you have on any of them. So often I know I put points in somewhere, but then you leave for a session and come back, and have to scroll all over the map to figure out where it was again.

Firaxis sviluppatoriis developers continue to put useless or irrelevant elements like ne. As in the five and six ignoring to improve the game mechanics, artificial intelligence think only about profit and merchandising

I really thought they would put in a hotfix before the holidays to fix all the issues brought on by the recent patch…the map tearing and missing texture pieces all over the map, the broken IP’s who are never able to finish building fortifications, etc. Firaxis is usually good about that. Guess we have to wait for some time in January (I hope now, at least)

On the religious front, it looks like that the best beliefs: Shamanism and Reincarnation go like hot buns now. I haven't been able to get Shamanism (my former favourite) since the patch. And also goodbye Zeal for +1 missionary charge, secured by the AI first thing.
