Hey everybody.
brentalfloss here. I usually do 8-bit parodies, but I am also a longtime fan of the Civ series. If you haven't seen it yet, I made a tribute video to the entire franchise using the tune of "Baba Yetu" from Civ IV, but adding my own lyrics. Enjoy, and if you like it, please do pass it on to other Civ-loving friends.

You can watch it directly here.

Cheers,
Brent

Learn to write before you can read and build the Taj Mahal right in Clevelaaand :D :goodjob:

A lot of the lyrics are unintelligible unless you stick earbuds in your ears and turn the amplifiers up to eleven. I did just that, however, and here's a transcript:

There's a game called Civilization
where you get your own little nation.
Be immortal, rule as you see.
Just one click and you can decree sh!t.
From Civ 1 to Civ Revolution,
it's your job to find the solution.
Need advice from somebody wiser?
Just ask Elvis, he's your advisor.

Everybody thinks you're nobody important.
If this was fight Club, you'd be Edward Norton
A gimp, a geek, a shrimp,
they call you weak, they call you wimp. (so lame)
Little do they know that you're a man of power,
you can conquer people hour after hour.
They'd fear you if they lived in the borders of your civ!

Keep playing Civilization,
take good care of your little nation.
Start a war with ancient Egyptians,
spread your equally valid religion.

Win with science, culture, or napalm.
Watch out, Ghandi might drop the A-bomb!
You can show your neighbors you love them,
or just beat the dog sh!t out of them.

(something)

When you're playing civilization,
history becomes your creation.
Learn to write before you can read,
then build the Taj Mahal right in Cleveland

Keep your wits and your sense of humor...
Watch out for that prick Montezuma. (he's a douchebag)
You can change the future a lot. See?
You can even make Jewish Nazis.
If it's in your imagination,
it can be your civilization.

Civilization is the sh!t, I hope they don't drop the ball when they bring it to Facebook.

In that case, you REALLY need to hold the mike closer to your mouth.

I didn't have a problem with understanding the words really.

More likely, he listened to it on an iPhone or other iDevice... for some reason, Youtube audio sometimes favors one side (left or right), and I used both sides for the vocals, so some of them were probably hard to hear.

G-Max, it's just you. I could hear it at my normal volume - 4/16.

What the hell is 4/16? There's a volume slider on my Windows taskbar that goes from 0-100, and there's a knob on my speakers that doesn't have any numbers on it at all.

Meh... I guess it doesn't matter. Regardless of what the 4/16 refers to, your standard of "normal" is clearly louder than mine, and I doubt that any amount of arguing between us will change that :undecide:

You might need a hearing test, I heard everything perfect.

Didn't I already say that the lyrics ARE intelligible if your audio devices are cranked up loud enough?

Mine was not very cranked up, maybe halfway. (Also, they are just built in laptop speakers)

I could hear it perfectly as well.

And if that's really you brentalfloss, I'm a big fan :mischief:
