I have civ3 1.29f and play monarch difficulty. It seems maybe with the patch or difficulty I will play the whole game without any of the civs ever attacking each other only me. why is this?

Maybe you out grow them or are playing with very unaggressive civs?

At Monarch and higher, I've noticed that the AI will go after each other more, cause they have free units so they are walking across each others territory exploring more.

that said - I've also seen games where no one ever attacks anyone, cause I'm playing with a lot of land and few civs, so they never run out of land.

thanks for the input I will play till 5-700ad and no war between themselves and they attack me all day long. what gives?

There's a good chance that all the AI civs are roughly equal in strength in that game, which makes them reluctant to attack eachother.

well i think they have there fair shares of wars. the world doesnt have 2 be in conflict. like 20 turns ago i got a random message saying "the japanese have been destroyed" didnt even meet them yet

What you can do is foment war yourself ;) find two AI on the other side of the world, declare on one, bring the other in on an MA....

If the map is large or huge and you have fewer than the default number of civ, they will have less reason to fight. They will just keep expanding as long as there is room.

Once room to grow is low or gone, then they have to fight, the whom is the question. Mostly they go for the civ that is weaker, if that is you, then tag your it.

Remember they will often bribe others to join, so will will soon have few friends.

If you are strong and get large, they will probably hate you eventually and go to war with you. This, even if, you are too strong for them. Well, up to a point.

Even at Sid I have had a civ or two leave me alone, if I was very strong and had been dealing with them.

I would also point out that you may not want them to war at level above DG, as one of them may get too much out of the war and be more dangerous.

You have to be careful not to get a civ dogpiled, when the AI gains more than you will.
