Seeking assistance manipulating player assignment after a game has been launched.
Summary - Cloud game with 6 Players - We played 50 turns co-op against AI. Player 5 was going religion and ended up missing the last Great Prophet. We underestimated Deity Ai. We eliminated his civ (Player slot 5 Khmer) and planned to have him rejoin as the next AI civ (Player Slot 7 Nubia) for a better experience.
Players 1-4 no problems joining the lobby. Player 6 attempted to join and we assumed he would get his Civ the Inca in slot 6 because 5 was eliminated. Instead anyone who attempts to join in the 5th player slot gets an Unable to join session message.
"End Turn Failed The Game was unable to process your game turn due to an error. Check your internet connection and try again. Error Code 17" We have tried other computers and internet connections - it does not seem to be internet related.
Subsequent players CAN join in and take over the available slots in order of availability. We experimented successfully using an extra account to try and join as player 5 and as expected it got the warning message.... and then we were able to get player 6 (Inca) back on his own Civ. Player 5 took over the Nubia Civ in slot 7 as we hoped.
However
Now when player 6 finished his cloud turn and tried to pass it over to player 7 we get a strange message as the latest evolution of glitches. Is happened for player 6 in 2 locations and computers so it seems unrelated to internet connection.
We spent 2 weeks trying to get back on track with many hours of research - but our understanding is too little. I am just fumbling with the Firaxis Live tuner with little success and only after I copy the multiplayer save file into single player. The tuner disconnects when I try to access multiplayer saves.
Is there anyone who can assist us? Open to a back and forth here or a discord chat.
