I would be outraged by the chaperones letting this take place. They should have had the kids stand down and they should have disciplined them before this for acting out generally. There is no way they were ignorant of the way these boys were behaving that day.

Even if the students were acting the way you claim, that doesn't excuse anything Phillips, the Black Hebrews, or the media did. The simple fact remains the former are children, while the latter are all adults. Socially, adults are held to a much higher standard of behavior than children and rightfully so because adults are supposed to know better.

It's like when my kids fight with each other. One is 8 and the other is 3. The older one almost always gets in more trouble than the younger one even if she isn't the one that started it because she is older and should be the more mature one and shouldn't be sinking to a toddler's level.

This is, factually, the longest reach of the word "assault" I've ever seen. Why spend this much effort trying to justify violent behaviour from the Native American, and so much effort defending the perspective of the white teenager?

I'd actually be okay with someone who is getting screamed at/having other loud noises made very close their face despite them asking the other party to stop to be able to legally punch the person doing it in the face. That's not how the law is now though, I'm pretty sure that'd get a person in trouble. Maybe the person could start running, and if they get chased turn and deliver a greeting then (chasing someone is grounds for credible threat). Probably not worth risking legal trouble regardless.

I've long wanted to see how belligerent "protesters" that yell in people's ears as they're passing by would react if the person they're targeting just pulled out an air horn, held it to their ear, and activated it. After all, either close-proximity sound is harassment/assault or it isn't. If screaming isn't assault, neither would be the air horn, and the person receiving the air horn would similarly have no right to touch the person using it. I wonder if they'd stick to that though.

I think it was a chaperone who gave the kids permission to do their school song to drown out the BHI insults.

The specific hat is the sideline that baits out the people who have politics of who, but not of what. People whom, generally, probably aren't worth listening to for very long.

If no hats were involved, same skin color, no tribes, no 'us & them', just 2 people - Phillips and Sandmann - would anyone blame the kid other than Phillips? How would they feel about Phillips if that was their kid?

kids in his group did and I’m speaking about the group as a whole. Their behavior was not acceptable.
