Here is Section G of the DG2 Code of Laws. This section deals with the Chain of Command. Please propose any modifications that will make for a better ruleset, as well as identify any passages that are no longer needed.

Code:
G. Chain of Command
   1. Determines the Designated Player if the President is unavailable for the turn
   chat.
       A. If the COC should fall to the "Remaining Elected Officials" or
"Appointed Officials", a spot vote will be conducted in the turn chat to
determine which official will be the Designated Player.
   2. Settles departmental jurisdiction conflicts.
   3. COC
       A. President
       B. Vice President
       C. Domestic Leader
       D. Military Leader
       E. Foreign Leader
       F. Science Leader
       G. Trade Leader
       H. Cultural Leader
       I. Chief Justice
       J. Public Defender
       K. Judge Advocate
       L. Domestic Deputy
       M. Military Deputy
       N. Foreign Deputy
       O. Science Deputy
       P. Trade Deputy
       Q. Cultural Deputy
       R. Remaining Elected Officials (example - Governors)
       S. Appointed Officials (example - Designated Chat Representatives)

-- Shorten CoC to use only Executive branch offices and the VP
-- President
-- Vice President
-- Domestic
-- Military
-- Foreign Affairs
-- Trade

Replace 1.A with:
If no citizen in the CoC is present to play the save, the session is ended.

Please though - we've got to come up with some better titles than Domestic, Military, FA and Trade!

My only suggestion is add the following:

During times of war and under the Presidents Grant the Military Advisor may play the save when a higher offcial is in the chat.

Inorder to launch an effective attack there may be alot of details which would be extremely tiresome to put into a turnchat thread. Also, as turns progress thing's may change making the military instructs useless, so in some circumstance's it may be better for the military advisor to play the save, instead of the President.

Also, some differant department names:

Demestic - Economics
Trade - Commerce
Foreign Affairs - Department of State
Science - Deparment of Research or Department of Advancement

Leave the CoC as it is (But omit the Culture Related possitions)

i think we should move the chief justice up, maybe around the domestic advisor?

I am in 100% agreement on this, Ravensfire. :goodjob:

However, if we want to have new titles for the Executive positions, we had better get them in quick. I plan on posting the ratification poll for Article D tomorrow, after which the earlier agreed-upon names will pretty much be etched in stone.

I recommend:

-- President
-- Vice President
-- Minister of Interior(Dom)
-- Minister of Defense(Mil)
-- Minister of State(FA)
-- Minister of Trade and Technology(there has to be something better.....)

Not sure if the Chief Justice should be allowed to play the save, but should he be allowed to stop or postpone the save?
If so, that should be noted in here somewhere.

ACtually, I had forgotten that we had different titles in the Executive Con. Article.

And now, my lovely arguement for a brief Chain of Command.

The current structure of the Executive Branch, including the VP, gives us 6 members. As the Executive Branch is charged with planning and executing in-game actions, restricting the CoC to them makes sense. The Judiciary should not, under any circumstances, be in the CoC - it destroys the independence needed for that office.

Traversing through the CoC is also a disruptive event. Often, you end up with someone who is not planning to run the session becoming the DP. Significant time is lost because they must read through the Instruction thread, understand the situation and objectives, then start the game up.

We don't need a large CoC - it serves no useful purpose. If the branch charged with executing the will of the people is unable to play the game, we should simply cancel the session.

I agree, the Judiciary should never be part of the CoC. If we burn through the list of 6 members with no one to run the turn chat, then we have bigger problems to deal with.

       F. Minister of Trade and Technology

Not a lot of activity, so how does this look?

Poll it. I think that should cover all the bases, Ravensfire.

Poll has been posted here.
