Colonialist Legacies: Histories of the New World | Colonial + Pre-Colonial civs

Thanks for that idea! I think we need to think of some more ideas for decisions for civs across the board (keeping in mind that I believe one decision should be Empire based and the other Leader based).

Malaysia could have a decision surrounding the Orang Laut mercenaries for the Leader based decision.

I'm not sure if the Cree are going to use the same code, but whoward69 already covered how to do dynamic city names in Lua in this thread. I used a variation on that code for my Forest of Magic civ. It is really awesome to see dynamic city names like that, though, because it creates a more immersive feel that your city names actually reflect their environment.

I'm not sure if Neirai developed his own code or used whoward's as a base. But yeah - for the most part the dynamic city names are one of my favourite attributes of the Cree.

Anyway, are there any civs that people want to beat over the head and discuss? Looking for feedback on the Zapotec proposal and we might also reveal some info on the Ashanti!

Here's an idea for Cap'n Para's Decision:-

Acquire an Audience with the Celestial Emperor
"The depredations of others are affecting you and your trade; your nation is still young, after all, and less capable of defending itself than it ought to be. With a powerful backer, on the other hand, your sultanate will flourish and the pirates will be kept at bay."
Cost: I'll leave it up to you guys, but I'd make it expensive
Reqs: Must have researched Navigation
Must have at least 50% of Trade Routes be Sea Trade Routes, rounded up.
Must have a Declaration of Friendship with at least 50% of the other Civilizations in the game, rounded down.
Rewards: -1 :c5angry: Unhappiness from Specialists in the :c5capital: Capital
All Palace Yields increased by 1 (stacks with God-King)
Trade Routes sent to and from Civilizations with whom you have a Declaration of Friendship grant a +5% :c5production: Military Unit Production bonus in the relevant Malaysian City.

How's that? If you're wondering about the palace yields thing, in return for the gifts that Parameswara's party gave to the Celestial Emperor, the good Cap'n was given a seal, fine silks, and a yellow umbrella. The last one's particularly important - it was the ultimate symbol of rulership in China at the time, a recognition of statehood and Chinese backing that was immensely powerful. A yellow umbrella marked one out as a royal, giving Parameswara and Malacca the prestige a young country desperately needs if it is to flourish. That prestige would also spread to the upper classes and merchants, hence the Specialist-related bonus. Finally, the military thing should be obvious; anyone would certainly think twice about attacking the cities and plundering the trade ships of someone under the auspices of the incredibly potent superpower that was China at the time. With this protection, Malacca was safe to flourish as it never had before.

Hopefully that's of use to someone. =]

I don't know about this one, but it's worth a shot
Rise of the Rebellion (Trung Sisters)

Cost a Great General
Can only enacted during an invasion (Enemy declares war on you)
Can only be enacted once

> All units you currently own receives a special promotion
or
> Gain a copy of every unit you currently own

The Great General is supposed to symbolize Thi Sach, Trung Trac's husband who was executed after trying to stand up against China, which led to the Trung Sister's starting the rebellion

This is a little crazy, and I have no predetermined historical basis for it, but what about an event or decision that expels all currently invading enemy units within your borders to the edge of your borders as if you'd just ended open borders? It wouldn't keep them out afterward, they could waltz right back in - but sometimes just another couple turns is all you need, and I could imagine it being a fairly fun moment.

Anyway, just a random thought. Is that even possible?

If you're looking for Vietnamese Decisions then you could try one based in the Tet offensive

That's a good idea, how about this.

The Tet Offensive

Costs x Gold and y Culture
Can only be enacted during a war
Can only be enacted during a golden age (or a we love the king day)

> All units that you currently own gain a unique promotion as well as a 50% attack bonus for the remainder of the golden age (or we love the king day)

The golden age symbolizes Tet (also known as Lunar New Year) which is one of the biggest celebrations during the year in Vietnam.
This could work really well if you have a great artist on hand and your're in the middle of a war. Considering Vietnam's culture focus, a great artist not that difficult to acquire.

Great ideas guys. I might have to have simplified decisions for some of the civs because of streamlining the process.

Which civ is closer to a release ? Cuba,Cree or Afghanistan ? :D

Cree > Afghanistan > Cuba.

We have leaderhead art for Afghanistan now :)

Can haz Mirwais preview plz?

i feel old now

so you're doing dynamic city names for the Cree?

but but how will I map it out on Google Earth THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART

(okay i guess I'd just do the capital for that like the Huns but still)

You keep mentioning Google Earth, but there are never any links! I demand links!

For reference though the Capital of the Cree is Sipiwininiwak which I believe is near Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Actually, Gyra, I've got a list of all of the city names, so you could just make a list of all 60 names and places and put them in. :)

Will the Pridelands Civ ever be released?

We're working on it, still just in case we do decide to drop it out of nowhere #BePrepared

Spoiler :

Meanwhile since Afghanistan and Malaysia are edging closer to completion - here's a preview of the Afghani UI in-game:

Looks great. I'll be glad to see this civ come together after god knows how long....

Yeah, the Afghanistan civ has been a long time coming - tomorrow it's officially 7 Months since we revealed we were working on it. Mind you, it did stagnate for the longest time, but we're working on it hardcore now.

Just as a reminder, here is what the Dida UI does:

Dida: Provides +1 :c5food: Food and +1 :c5gold: Gold, with their tile yields doubled if built adjacent to a mountain. Trade Routes that pass over a tile with a Dida generate points towards Great Writers in the Capital. Unlocked at Horseback Riding. Units stationed on a Dida receive a 10% Defensive Bonus.

Alright, so now it's opinion time. I've been playing around with icon alternatives (and I'll do this with Malaysia next). Tell me which icon you prefer from these eight:
