I find it funny how a lot of native english speaking peoples, even though they speak a language with a very unique pronunciation, always seem think their language's logic applies to other languages.

Rule of thumb: For every language you don't know, always assume the correct way to pronounce the A E I O U vowels is Ah, Eh (often sounds like the "ai" in "maid" with an irish accent, but sometimes is like "e" in "bed"), Ee, Oh (same as in english but without the "oo" sound in the end), Oo. The chances that you'll be wrong are much lesser than if you just use the english pronunciation.

Also, one thing to keep in mind is that most languages in the world tend to have straightfoward vowel sounds. It's not like in english where a lot of vowel sounds "fall" into another, like the "a" in "fade" which is a combination of eh and ee sounds. In most languages, if one vowel is combined with another, it is explicitly written - so the "a" in the example would be written as "ei". Otherwise, it's just the single vowel sound.

Sorry for the small lecture, it's a pet peeve of mine. But good DOM speech anyway.

It's just cultural appropriation really. Kinda like how we butcher the proper pronunciation of bolognese (Australia - Bullanaise/Spag Bol). But then again it could just be how people read it personally.

One man could look at the word "Diplodocus" and see "Diplo-dokus", whereas another would see "Dipludo-kus". The amount of times I said "Oogadougoo" instead of "Wagadoogoo" (capital of Burkina Faso) was too damn high. I actually pronounced my handle as Pan-goal-in until I heard a myriad of people pronouncing it Pango-lin.

If it's a major, major issue - I'll get the voice actor to rerecord.

I'm not getting involved in the pronunciation debate. I'm just excited that I made an actual damn contribution to this mod. =]

The Tr in Trung and Trac makes a ch sound, like in chocolate
Trac would be pronounced like Chuck i guess
the Nh in Nhi make a y sound like in you, the "i" makes a long "e" sound.

I say this with the confidence of a Vietnamese person. Because I am one.
Otherwise I think the DOM sounds great

Yep, me too - I used to pronounce it like OO gah DOO GOO until I ran across this on Wikipedia:
Also I heard your voice on ModCast (EDIT) PolyCast and was surprised how you pronounce your name - it seems we put the stress on different syllables. Sounds like you say it more like tee-pan-GOL-in whereas I say tee-PAN-gol-in.

Also, for whatever reason whenever I see I word in a language I know how to pronounce it annoys me when others don't pronounce it right... even though it's fairly unrealistic to assume they will... :p

By the way... how did we even get to talking about this? :crazyeye:

It's actually surprising how often the said capital of Burkina Faso comes up in bar conversations. I guess it's because the name is so percievably ridiculous.

    Anyway, I've also asked for a re-record.

Meanwhile - we are always looking for new coders and collaborators to work on new projects! I'd love to start work on the Anangu. Or any other suggestions people have for civs.

Let all the peoples of Dai Viet bow unto their saviours, Trung Trac and Trung Nhi!

Though your origins were comparatively humble, you were schooled in the arts of warfare and in the history of your people. When the Han invaders inflicted great cruelties upon the people of your lands and murdered Trac's beloved husband, you rose with the rage of the dragon and your countrymen rose with you, casting out the usurpers and establishing an independent nation. For the next three years, the Chinese broke upon your kingdom like waves upon a rock until at last you were defeated, though it took an army of a hundred thousand men to slay two women.

O mightiest of sisters, you have more enemies than just China now; you face a host of barbarians, eager to enslave the people of a proud nation. Will you rise once more and fight for a free Vietnam? Can you build a Civilisation that will stand the test of time?

well the stare part is a good thing, like when they say "you may have won,but we will rise up again",
they leave you with that stare, as if they will come to haunt you and pillage your farms
Could one of them have a different clothe design, like dragons instead of flowers?

+did you use a guide to make these?
I would have thought Janboruta or Leugi made this

I looked through a gallery of national coat of arms to find the closest looking one, and I'm going to guess very similar to Pouakai:

    Zambia

As you can see, the bird has outstretched wings which point up, like in the icon. The bird is also gold on green, similar to the cream on green of the icon.

    Coincidence?

    Probably. :p
