Colonization ship battles?

Anything like SM's Pirates?? or more like SM's Civ IV?

It is called Civilization IV:Colonization. It is like Civ IV, not Pirates.

I know, I have a copy that is unopened. Is the ship combat simulated like Civ 4, or do you get to conduct it first hand like Pirates.

I think you answered that question already, but I'd like a clarification.

Naval combat (and all types of combat, really, for that matter) is conducted as in Civ4, so no new changes there.
