Hi all,
SOooo, I have 2 Ships of the Line PLOWING this poor Army Commander to oblivion in open ocean.
Yes, it's Deity difficulty, but this is just stupid!!
Picture this.. 'Some bloke in his little row boat (probably Maximus), paddling away, rushing home to aid everyone with his exceptional leadership and combat skills, only to come up against two huge Ships of the Line. They've become bored of pounding Roma for the past decade so they go after him. Inevitably he gets into a tussle and the first barrage of cannon fire is -10 damage..... OKAY. Second round.... -9 damage. Yep. Good. He just shrugs it off like they are throwing pebbles at him! Sounds more far fetched than the Fast and Furious series (1 and 2 were okay).
This needs to be adjusted big time!!
A previous game I was playing, I was up against Xerxes with his +3 combat strength in enemy territory, and he was raging hard. My only option was to intercept him in the ocean before he could make landfall, but again, same thing.
Piss poor damage and he overran me with his knights, from what I can only assertain they must have been 'ferociously probing my ships with their jousting sticks' that they poked holes in every boat. No matter what I threw their way, they all ended up at the bottom of the ocean, completely sunk and full of holes. So I conceeded. My fortresses on water were no match for their 'poke holes in ships sticks' and metallic lumber armour.
This is just silliness, please adjust! Give us a +10 combat bonus or something for combat water units vs embarked, something has to be done becuase this is just plain dumb.
If the AI is out of position and stupid enough to throw their land units towards ships in open ocean, they should pay the consequences.
