Quite similar to the CFCoplis game, but adapted for SimCity 4. As the game is a little more complex there are a few more rules.
Requirements and Setup:
0) Rush Hour or Delux editions of SimCity 4 only.
1) Make sure your game is patched to the most recent version
2) Remove all custom content and plugins
3) Install needed plugins (11 Megs). Version 1.0. Details in next post.
Zip/exe will be updated with each patch
3a) If you downloaded an earlier version you must patch the game. [provide a list of patches. provided what is added. provide version numbers from to to from.]
4) Go to http://www.croxis.net/sc4/ and register your account.
5) After reading the in-game rules, checking this first or second post for any patches or news, and the city is available on the server at http://www.croxis.net/sc4/, you may check out the city from the server. Upload and check the city back to the server in when you are finished. In list form:
* Click on the city
* Click on Being mayor (if it is not taken)
* Download the city
* Play it
* Reupload it
* Resign your mayorship.
6) Feel free to post screenshots (please make thumbnails or size at 320x240) of your work, any story or role playing you would like to do.
Important Notes:
*There is a 24 hour limit on how long the city can be check out before it revokes your current check out and you will lose any changes you made. Due to the size of the plots 24 hours will probably not be enough time to fully develop your city. Feel free to work a little bit and check your city back in to make it available for the next person. You can check out your city again at a later time to continue work.
*Be cautious when you upload a city. You may continue to play the version you have to figure out what you would like to do however. Uploading an outdated version will result in a warning. Continuous negligence or intentional sabotage will result in a ban from the game and immediate destruction of your city except for any required networks.
Here's the in-game rules:
1. Every island must not breach the outside of it's 30x30 area, except for any sloaping needed to make a raised bridge if desired. You may do anything you wish to your area however.
2. You must put up a sign somewhere in the city with your screen name on it.
3. You must pick an island that borders at least one already occupied island.
4. You must provide power to all neighboring unused islands without power (Raised wire bridges to all that don't have one leading to them already)
5. You must send at least a road, avenue, or highway bridge to each unused neighboring island. You may send other transportation over as well. You are limited to one type of connection each per side with the exception of ferries.
5a. If you wish to use a ferry for a specific instead of bridges you and your partner must agree to it in the discussion thread. If you plan on only or emphasising ferry connections, please choose a plot away from a major transportation pipe.
5b. Bridge connections are rather high to allow ferries to pass under. Use low bridges when possible.
6. Once a neighbor claims a neighboring island you may not add, move, remove, or change the height of any bridges. You may demolish the bridge only if you are changing how it connects on your end.
7. You may place a sub-to-rail or a subway station in your island.
8. Don't mess with other people's cities and keep no disasters on.
9. No adding custom buildings or non-graphics only plugins. Please read custom content policy.
10. Please leave city ordinances alone. They have been modified and will adjust themselves as needed.
11. No lude markings or building naming
12. You may have only one reward item and one landmark per city.
Custom Content Policy:
Like many recent Sim games, Sim City for has piles of custom content available. This makes things difficult as every player must also install this content as well. I have developed a process to which custom content may be added in the game. Custom content which is only graphical and superficial, such as the water or rock mods, you are more than welcome to add for your own use. If you are unsure please post in the forums.
Here are the requirements for getting custom content added in the game:
1) Post what you want to add to the game in the thread, what it does, and why you want to add it. In this post provide a link to the download PAGE (not the file itself).
2) If several players express serious interest and intentions for using it, and there are no serious objections, I may add it to the next patch.
3) If I, or any other admin, deem it to have significant value or utility to either the player or admin experience, I may add it to the patch.
4) If it is for a particular theme you are developing for your island, I may add it to the next patch.
Here is what will NOT be added:
1) Single lot requests.
2) Adding something just because 'it would be cool."
3) Anything that will drastically alter the simulation as it may cause pre existing and thriving islands to die.
4) Anything that will alter global graphics (as I mentioned, you may install these for your own use)
5) Anything that would interfere with an existing mod.
Your chances of getting custom content added will be much higher if you compile a list in a single post than a new post for every new item you find online. A though explanation on why the content should be added and how it will improve and affect game play will also increase chances. I will post an approval or rejection for each item. When an item is approved I will NOT put out a patch right away. I will be posting new patches at a minimum of one week intervals to keep the number of downloads small. You may play your city without the content until that time.
