What is with the trickle of games being released onto the Virtual Console??

I mean COME ON, I understand you want people to buy Super Mario Galaxies this week but stop neglecting the VC by releasing.......... Double Dribble? I mean WTH? it was crap when it was released originally and quite honestly who was the guy who suggested in the board meeting that they should port over that drivel next?

Yes I understand it can cost a bucket load to port over a game what with the technical costs and also licenses but have you truely lowered yourself to declare that you're so short of money that you need to resort to releasing Double Dribble?

I'd like to bring your attention to this...

That's not exactly far from the truth and it's not exactly going to get worse anytime soon.

And another thing, even when some new Super dooper game isn't coming out, you're still only releasing 4 games a week. Sorry Nintendo but that's just wrong, you've got 6 consoles there (NES, SNES, MegaDrive/Genesis, Turbografx,N64,NeoGeo) with rumours of others on the way (Master System) and you're only releasing 3/4 a week? Even doubling that would be FAR beyond awesome, and in the end you're going to make even more money from it because people will end up buying it. And even if they don't, well,

If you are going to be really anal about what games you release could you at least give us a timeline for what's comign out when cause I know there's a list in Nintendo HQ somewhere with that information on it, and it'll certainly give us something to go on.

Get it fixed Nintendo.

Anyway, with rant firmly back in check, what games do you want to see on the Wii anytime soon, cause it's quite apparent that Nintendo will never tell you until they release it.

I've got 3 (and they're all for the SNES) -

Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 6 (or 3 depending on what part of the world you're from)

3 of the best games I've ever had the fortune to play on that console and why they're not out already makes me sad.

The virtual console doesn't piss me off much; the lack of quality third party Wii games does.

I'm happy so far because there's a crap load of Mario and Zelda games, I've got Mario Bros. 1,2,3, Mario World, 64, and Ocarina of Time and the first Zelda, so my virtual console is quite nice right now.

But....I would love to see Chrono Trigger myself, some Final Fantasy, Ristar, and probably some others I am forgetting. I know Donkey Kong 64 is a Rare game, but it does have a Nintendo character, so I am hoping to see it. There's a bunch of other games to but I'm too lazy.

Donkey Kong Country is also Rare and that's on the VC.

Regarding the 3rd Party games I saw a article (probably on Digg) regarding this and the lack of good games at the moment is because no one really thought the Wii would be any good, so now that they've been proven otherwise 3rd parties are trying to churn out games quickly which tends to mena they suck, but the next series of games will be.... well..... alot better.

Secret of Mana is one of the very few games that could get me to buy a handheld, and it is the only Nintendo title. So i agree with stevie, get a move on, Nintendo!

I assume Nintendo wants to keep good games coming out for the entire life of the system, meaning that some not so good games have to come out as filler for constant releases. I would prefer if they came out with the good games first, but right now I don't think it is too much of a problem.

A few of the games I hope they release soon:
FFIII(actually 6, but 3 here)
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana (never played it so I want to try this out)
Others I can't think of at the moment.

I can has Ogre Battle now plz?

Really, that franchise kicks ass. It's a total mystery for me that there wasn't an installment for the Cube/PS2/Xbox generation. Forget the little handheld Tactics Ogre titles, give me another March of the Black Queen or Person of Lordly Calibre! Or, failing that, just slide them up for download.

Nintendo must get permission from third parties to re-release their games on the Virtual Console. If they refuse, there's absolutely nothing Nintendo can do. For example, Square is unlikely to give out the rights to any of the Final Fantasies, because they remake the games every couple of years and sell them to a new generation of gamers. Other games (most notably Goldeneye 007) no longer have the licenses from movies/TV that they possessed in the past, and would have to be relicensed for a Virtual Console release. That's pretty unlikely to happen.

There are reasons why some popular games haven't appeared yet. :)

Goldeneye 007's out on the VC though.

I can understand the idea of releasing games in a trickle so that it services the whole life of the console but there are some MAJOR games not being released and on weeks when all you get are ones like Double Dribbe or whatever it's called, it gives me the urge to kill ;)

Umm, no, it's not. Where in the world did you hear that?

Yes, I understand that you're frustrated. But I told you why these games you want to see aren't appearing, and you really didn't respond to that. As I said, Nintendo can't release any of those SNES games you mentioned unless Square gives them permission, which Square refuses to do.

You can blame Nintendo if you like, but they're not responsible for any of the titles you mentioned. :)

I do apologise, I was certain that 007 was indeed on VC, that's bizarre, I'm sure I read something about it. Anyway, sorry :)

I just feel that, if Nintendo have indeed tied themselves in a twist regarding not being able to release their best games on the VC then it takes a great deal away from the VC as a whole. Sure you'll be able to get good games on there to play but you'd be painfully aware of what's missing

Nintendo are lazy for the Virtual Console in Europe. If the game was released here on one of the older consoles previously they use the original PAL conversion, which in some cases is poor (borders covering 10% of the screen, 17% slower gameplay and sometimes it's noticable in the music) instead of making a new optimised port, although there are exceptions.

If they released "Super Mario RPG:Legend of the Seven Stars" for the virtual console, I would save up and buy a Wii rite now. That game is hard to find reasonably priced these days, not only that but my two SNESs arent in the best condition ever.

Well, start saving because it has been out for quite a while (at least it has been here in the states, I don't know about elsewhere).

my god are you serious? Im talking about the original SNES mario RPG???Please tell me its true....why hasnt my friend told me of this!!We mist light the signal fires!!Tell the local villages this is great news indeed!!!

I was pretty sure that Mario RPG hadn't come out...? It's not on this list.

Paper Mario has, but that is not the same game by a long shot.

I knew it was to good to be true, otherwise the Wii would be selling twice as much as it is now. An easy misunderstanding yes, the game is actually called(aptly) super mario RPG, its a really great game that came out a little to late for the SNES so didnt sell great but it an absolutely awesome game, one of my favorites of all time.
