I arrive here after years only to find the same nutcases and brainwashed trolls are still here. (Not referring to anyone in this thread or any specific thread. And probably wouldn't be allowed to do so anyway.)
I salute those brave people who may still be trying to keep this forum sane. I wish you well.
I abhor those craven liars who are still trying to pervert every news to suit their leaders' agenda. I wish you Hell.
As for anyone else, I bid you farewell.

I love how J.R.R. Tolkien is your favorite author. You clearly see everything as a battle between good and evil, don't you? You also have a nice poetic way of talking.

I'm kinda back. We still have no power from Leyte, but I've re-positioned my solar panels and have replaced the batteries, so now have some power of my own.. WiFi has its own power source, so as long as I power my router, I have internet.

But no big appliances like my refrigerator or washing machine.

I feel for your loss of refrigeration. I spend a lot of time off-grid in tropical countries. The only really necessary modern convenience in my opinion is refrigeration. 40C (100+F) weather is just about bearable as long as I have access to a cold drink now and then. Not to mention food and medicine not spoiling in an afternoon.

Power came back at midnight. Hot shower, hooray! :goodjob:

We've now had it for 12 hours. I still haven't heard if this is permanent or temporary. I'm going to put off grocery shopping until Tuesday.

Switch to gas hot water heaters? Or is it an electrical issue of city pumps supplying water? Cistern on the roof for gravity fed system when power goes out. Refrigeration is a tough problem.

We have a water tank on the roof. But we need govt pumps to fill it completely.

After buying $300 in groceries, we got home to find no power.
It came back within a couple of hours. :p

The sudden death of Chester Bennington, among other problems in my personal life going on, has triggered a depression in me. I'll probably be back, but I need some time off.

I've been gone for a while, it's always interesting to see who's been naughty while I was away.
