Commander in Chief

Based on the mini map, there could still be a lot of land to the south. I highly doubt the other civ is close to the eastern mountain because of the marsh and proximity to both dyes.

Maybe we should head for the southeast hill. :dunno:

I have been looking at the mini map all game. There is not a lot of land on this map. Some of the land tiles will be in the form of small islands probably containing luxs. Now look at our starting location. 5 tiles North of the Equator with not very much land to the North of us. This map is supposed to be equitably equal for all Tribes. If the Southern Tribe was further South and enjoyed the lush green pastures that would be there, that would not be an equal start.

I will agree with the hill 3 tiles to the SE, though.

Me too. We'll get a good view of the territory to the south east. We have the option to swing back up and head north if nothing of interest is discovered.

Aye, that's a good point.

If our neighbor's dyes are further away than ours, it would also not be an equal start. So, I'm thinking we really have to be closing in on their capital now.

Their capital is also likely located on a long river like the one we settled on. That southern river looks promising. If there shouldn't be much more land left to the south, that river may drain to the southern coast. And we know their capital is on the coast.

Not necessarily. A lux is a lux. They could have Ivory close to them an Wines as close as the Dyes are to us. Those Southern Dyes would actually be an incentive for me to expand along the North of the inland sea/lake. Maybe there would be the second grouping of the Southern Tribe's lux there.

? You know the Southern Tribe is a seafaring Tribe? When did we find this out? I don't doubt that their capital is on a river, but I've been thinking it was closer to the source than the mouth. Of course Aerie is close to niether the source or the mouth of The Big Branch River and is still on the coast. But I think you're right about that river emptying into the ocean not much further South than our Warrior's present position.

I think it is likely that there is another grouping of luxs to the east. However, I don't think that it will be clear that one grouping of luxs is intended to be ours and the other is intended to be the other tribes. The distance between the two dyes seems too great to me. It seems more likely that one of the dyes is intended for us and the other is intended for the other tribe. I would think it would be a similar situation if there is another grouping.

It's all mere speculation at this point but I like to speculate. :bounce:

I thought I had read in an early thread that everyone was starting on the coast. It was quite a while ago so I might be getting things mixed up.

I would say go East to the coast and then NE to follow the river.

I'm in favor of having the Eagleprise go around the island that we found. Any other thoughts?

Yes that was my plan. Its main task should be to find the other continent, right?
I was under that impression as well. The question is, does anyone object? After all, the Enterprise's continuing mission is to seek out new life, correct? :)

Our team captain speaks!

The Prime Directive is fine by me...

It's [party ], not : party:, Cyc; and yes I do have the capability to speak, it didn't seem like there was a lot of discussion here. So, I started one. :D

But then we can't interfere, and we want to interfere. That just gave me an idea for the Grand History story thread... :)

[party] Thanks!
If we're attacked by Klingons, we have to defend ourselves....

 What are we doing with the exploring warrior by the way? Is he heading to those hills?

edit: Also, when we make contact with the foreign tribes we'll have to keep our Curraghs to 2 moves/turn. Otherwise, they might find out too early that we're the Byzantines.

Won't they see that it has 3 movement points by right clicking? We should be able to hide our scientific trait until we're building dromons though.

I agree with scouting out the island, on the off-chance that there is something of interest to be found.

Yes. I think the goal of the mission is to sail down the coast looking for any passages, which we may have already found.

Yes, I agree. We don't necessarily have to circle that island? we are at, Southward and Eastward sounds good.
