Commands take forever to load?

I dont know why but it seams that once I entered the modern age my game seem to take for ever for any command to take effect, for example, My cities will tell me the change production, I do and it seem to take forever for it to take effect, anyone know why? I have A gateway windows 7 with a ati mobility radeon hd4250 graphics card
