Hired Goon
Since the turn thread is designated for turn activity only, I thought I'd make a comment here regarding the most recent turns taken and Pellaken's frustration.
Pellaken: I am very sorry that you feel so put off. Part of this is my fault and I'll freely admit it. With the forum down and my own communication problems, I didn't have a chance to get up some important polls regarding wonder building and settler use/building new cities as I would have liked.
Truth be told, I've had very few problems or issues with your stint as the President. You've taken over at a time when there seems to be a mass exodus of sorts, so you have to keep this in mind as well. I would hazard a guess that you've probably played more turns than most have - unless some of the earlier presidents were more prolific as that was before my time.
Your enthusiasm and desire helped to carry this game through a difficult time, and I for one appreciate the effort. I've been quite a critic at times, and I regret that I've not focused on the positive aspects as much as I probably should have.
That being said, there's also no need to lambaste some of the people that were trying to help. The Oedo year dates may have been incorrect for not taking into map size or the right difficulty level or it may have been the timing of the Revolution. Doesn't really matter all that much - so we had a few turns of Anarchy, it's not the worst thing that could happen.
In any case, with the Easter holiday approaching and elections after that, we're likely not going to be able to get another round of turns in anyway. I do hope you stick around to throw your hat into the various rings - I hope the game sticks around for a little while yet as well.
Maybe later I can smack you around for moving that trireme with those crusaders off-shore!
Ah well, 'nuff said.
