Communication with Leaders

I posted this question yesterday but it seems to have disappeared. How do you communicate with leaders that do not appear on your foreign advisor screen? I run into this problem when I'm playing against more than 8 computer players since the foriegn advisor screen only shows 8 faces.

shift + right click on one of the leader heads. A small menu will appear with those civs who aren't currently displayed. Choose one and it will replace the leader head that you clicked on.

Or you can double click on a unit of said empire.
