Community Patch - How To Install

I've struggled with this in the past, so it is almost certainly a recurring issue. I can't seem to enable the base community patch. I have v. 66, and the game version I am running is 1.0.3.279, so I can only assume that it is as one commenter mentioned, to do with the fact I am running it on a Macintosh. Any truth that mods which change the DLL won't work on Mac? If so, is there no workaround?

No DLLs on macs, sadly. You could try Winebottler to install civ as a windows emulation, or use boot camp. Those are your only options.

Couple questions - have there been any reports of the community patch affecting performance? My game was running a lot slower today using it. I'm don't think it's the problem, since I first downloaded it yesterday and it was running just like normal, but I figured I'd ask.
Secondly, I seem to have done something wrong somewhere since each turn only takes one year, even starting from 4000 BC. It's not a big deal since the year doesn't really affect anything, but it's weird having crossbows in 3840 BC. Is there an easy fix?

Love the changes though!

I have the same experience with the last few versions. My computer is making a lot more noise now than it did before, and getting way hotter.

Sounds like a bad install. And, as of the current version, the CP actually runs faster than the core DLL in terms of raw computation and memory use. Make sure to use luajit if you have lots of lua mods running.

Why I can't see characteristics of another countries? Also, when I move cursor to buildings I see message like that

What could I have done wrong?

Sounds like you didn't install EUI properly and/or you deleted the CP's lua files.

Edit: also, this is not the bug reports thread. Please post there.

I remember seeing a few patches back that difficulty level scaling could be adjusted in the mod files. Since I am finding Deity too easy I would like to do that, but I can't seem to find the instructions anymore.

Perhaps it would be prudent to add those to the original post? If not, could I get pointed in the right direction please? Thanks!

Here you go
Other than that I believe Gazebo said he'll scale difficulty up in the next version.

So, I really didn't want to bother you in this thread because I can see how much time and effort you've spent on this community and this mod, but this installation just doesn't seem to be working for me. I wouldn't post here unless I felt I'd given it my full attempt to install the mods, and tried various different ways to fix it.

I started by removing all other mods to a separate folder and unsubscribing on steam, then clearing my cache. I then followed your installation instructions to the best of my abilities. They all showed up in the mod menu and didn't give an error when I confirmed their activation there. Upon getting into the game, I had bad errors all though my tooltips. Upon seeing this I deleted it and started over again, assuming I had screwed up the lua process in installing EUI like some others had, but that didn't fix it. Additionally, in the next game I loaded up, I checked and found no changes to the tech tree, units, buildings, happiness system, or CS interactions. I knew this wasn't right so I began trying smaller and smaller installs to see what was going on. Suffice to say that trying without EUI, then without CSD & C4DF, I still see no changes from vanilla BNW except the tooltips coming back after going without EUI. (Though they were just the vanilla tooltips.)

I'm not a programmer or a modder, but I think I know enough to follow the instructions. Apparently not. I didn't want you to think I was crying at the first sign of trouble (now I'm about 5 hours into trying on and off and reading this whole thread and the last 20 pages of the bugs thread) when you actually have a life and did all this because you are awesome, so I told you the whole story.

Do you have any ideas how I might be screwing this up?

Did you delete the LUA folders from the CP and CBP, and download the EUI/No-EUI compatibility files?

Yes, both of the above and I matched the respective comparability mods. Regarding the lua folders, do I delete the entire folder or just the contents?

Also, only delete the CP lua when I tried just CP + CPB.

You have all leader/wonder DLC? Also, latest version of civ?

If you don't have logging enabled, enable it and try to run the game. When it crashes, post your lua.log and database.log files.

I hav all DLC in Steam, I'm sure that is all of the available DLC right? Will do. How do I enable/access logging?
