Community Patch - How To Install

Not on a mac, and steam should update it so I would expect but I'm on .279

Last gasp effort, here is what my logging shows if I'm just trying to enable the mods one by one - CP -> CP & CBP -> CP, CBP, CSD, C4DF, CBP-C-EUI

Looks like you are not using More Luxuries. That'll crash it. Download More Luxuries (from link on first post).

I have been using it, it was just the last thing I enabled. I guess for now I give up, maybe my logs will help you figure out whats up in case someone else runs into the same issue.

I mean, your installation looks solid. My recommendation:

  • Reinstall civ, clearing out all old files and confirming that it is up to date.
  • Clean MODS folder.
  • Follow CP instructions for install.
  • Clear cache/moduserdata folders.

I realize we are kinda eating this thread alive, so if you'd like me to just quit at any point or move to pms let me know.

So, I figured that one more try couldn't cost me anything, I had some reading to get done, so re-downloading wasn't an issue. So I've re-downloaded, brand new everything, followed instructions and enabled logging.

In essence -- identical results to last time.

Here is the logging from just enabling the mods and here is the logging from 5 turns in game.

From what my (totally inexperienced) observation is showing me from the database, stopwatch, xml, and lua folders (which are all very interesting and displaying several problems) it seems that perhaps the CP is working, but that everything from CBP up are not? A lot of the unique units are being flagged as errors in the database and lua logs. So clearly the install has worked to the point where the game knows they should be there, but can't find them. For this install I went without the EUI and with the non EUI CBP-C patch.

Did the difficulties change in these new versions? I'm about to set up a game as normal using Really Advanced Setup on the communitas map, and I see it now says settler difficulty is prince equivalent and so on? So everything gets harder from there?

I apologize if I missed this being asked before BUT I am not seeing a "DLC" folder in my Civ 5 folder.

I've downloaded the files I want (CP, CBP, CSD, C4DF, EUI, and EUI Compatibility File). I subscribed to More Luxuries through Steam. (I'm assuming that is not an issue.)

I installed each of the mods into the Mod folder. I went to put the EUI in the "DLC" folder but I see no such folder. (I forget which of the downloaded mods above contained a DLC folder but I tried using that one, and it did not work).

I attempted to play a game and found no tech tree and the top menu bar was not able to be used. I've since deleted all the mods in the folder and am about to reinstall only the ones above. I am subscribed to a few on steam beyond "more luxuries" but will not activate those.

I am about to give the game another try but I am pretty sure I need to sort out this missing DLC folder issue first. Any ideas? (Can I just create a new folder, name it DLC, and go from there?)

*I see now that the files have been updated since I first tried all of this yesterday. I will get the new versions but still need help with the missing DLC folder.

The DLC folder is found in your installation of Civ 5 on your C drive, not in your documents. Go to C --> Steam --> Steamapps --> Common --> Civ 5 --> Assets and there is your DLC folder. Place the EUI folder into this DLC folder.

Thank you. Very much appreciated. I will be giving this another go soon.

EUI (CBP Version) (7/15v2):
If you are using CBP, CSD, C4DF, and More Luxuries, you will need to use the CBP version of Enhanced User Interface (EUI). In order to use this file, all five mods (CP, CBP, CSD, More Luxuries, C4DF) must be used along with EUI and the CBP Compatibility File. Includes support for More Luxuries Mod, but mod is not required. Install the CBP version of EUI as you would normally (in the DLC folder of your Civ 5 install).

I apologize for asking what may be seen as a stupid question, but--

Is it indeed the case that I need CP, CBP, CSD, More Lux, and C4DF in order to have any for of Enhanced UI?

Thanks in advance for your time! Really enjoying the mod so far.

Wording is a little tricky, but no, it refers to the CBP-EUI when using all those files, when not, you only need the non-CBP version of EUI. As far as I know.
