I think it'd be nice to see how the Civ units compare when they are
placed next to each other...

It looks like Civ3 units are alot bigger, maybe twice as big, than Civ2 units!

I wonder if they are going to have the same option for zooming on the map, or if they will require us to change the resolution on our monitors? Reason I wonder this is because the units are bigger link TF pointed out.

Hey TF!

You didn't include ToT units! I wonder how they measure up?

Civ III units totally rock...

I like the animations...they are a lot better than ToT.

Don't talk about TOT, it stinks! The graphics are a bit better though. I'm still worried about the unit animations. They are not the main part of the game, but they've seem to put a lot of emphasis into it. Also, the website only shows the unit attacking to the south. What about east, west, and north? You have to be able to turn the animations off, or I'll have to upgrade my crappy P150.

Why does the catapult in civ2 look a lot more real than the other units? It's wierd.

I like the Catapult in civ2 better that the Catapult in Civ3

I think the new Civ III units look great. But
vladmir_illych_lenin, I just wanted to compare the "sizes" of ToT units against Civ III units (not the game). Actually, ToT used a modified Civ2Gold engine, so I have an interest in the .txt files that will govern the programming for modpacks/scenarios...if it is like ToT, I'm in big trouble!

Yeah, cause it's kind of hard when you have multiple maps in TOT.

I've noticed that each unit has an "at rest" animation. If you have many units on one screen, and they are all animating the "at rest" animation, it will really slow the game down.

IT WILL suck if the c3 units are really that big, they look cool, but are way to big, the c2 ones are perfect

For those of us who are half blind as it is even with our glasses on, bigger units are a blessing.

I like the blue that has been used in the Civ 3 units. It's a nice, open colour. And I agree: the civ 2 catapult looks better.

Agreed on the catapult issue. Also, I think the warrior looks like he has a higher attack rating than the Phalanx, but ofcourse a lower defense.

yeah, the dumbthing is, the warrior is supposed to be a like a caveman, but he looks pro as in C3 i mean, they didn't have that cool blue dye then!
also, the phalanx needs a beefier sheild

the catapult looks phat

I'm not impressed with these CIV3 graphics. They look like they're made out of LEGO, especially the catapult!

OK, some of the lower strength units on Civ2 could do with an improvement but this looks like they're aiming it at pre-teens (which according to the poll accounts for just 2% of civheads here).

And as for "big graphics = better", why not just enlarge the screen magnification? Shrink it down again when you want the big picture.

So far, overall I prefer the Civ2 graphics.

What's up with the CivIII catapult having gears?!?!?!?! It makes it look more advanced, that's bad. The aircraft units are pretty nice looking (f15 and mig).

The animation wil probably slow down the game. I even turn the animation off with CivII. TOT must have provided lots of revenue, enough to influence CivIII.

I'm sure CivIII will still kick butt!!!
