Okay so I have complete kills turned on and now after routing the entire Indian continent Gandhi won't die. Tried searching the forum but nothing usable after 10's of pages.

I have BAT/BUG and he shows no cities and no units in any screens but he still exists in Diplo/Trade and every where else.

I killed his last city/Capital as last fight.

I can't even find him in world-builder.

I'm considering it's maybe a corruption, unless someone has had the same issue before and found a quick fix.

Thanks

well if you can't find him in WB then thats an issue. But spies/Gspies are generally two of the annoying culprits responsible for complete kills being a bad idea...

Well my privateers kept him isolated til late game so I don't think he ever snuck any naval off. I'll give the worldbuilder one more shot and turn on all mil and try to find him.

I can still keep playing, have two more civs to kill late game, I just won't get a victory parade.

Thanks for the help

Well looks like I found him. Light Pink dot on dark blue sea in worldbuilder, parked his last Galley up near the N. Pole. We'll see.

Thanks All

Apparently he had the brilliant idea of preserving his beaten civilization for the future by deep-freezing it. ;)

Joking aside: Isn't it possible to save the worldbuilder game, then load it as a scenario and play as him, thereby finding his unit? I never tried it though (never was in a position where I deemed it worth the effort), so it might be impossible, or simply not worth the effort.

Well, who here hasn't picked a blue or purple faction in an RTS and spirited a boat away in the corner of an island map to frustrate the other player?

Me. :p

I've done that loads of times in Age of Empires II and III... I'm almost dead. I build a dock, build a warship, and sail out to the corner of the map. If I have allies, I ask for 2 warships to protect mine.

Hmm.. what happens if it is a great spy? I guess that civ can never be wiped out without the WB then.

Is there any evidence that an AI with either a Spy or a Great Spy left alive will not be killed when complete kills is enabled? Have you ever seen such a saved game?

People speculate all of the time, but I have yet to see a saved game backing up the fact that these cases weren't specially coded for to kill of said Civ automatically when all they had remaining were invisible units.

Also, if such a case of the AI surviving does exist, it would be interesting to see what an AI would do... perhaps Infiltrate with the Great Spy and die? Actually, does the AI even know how to use the Infiltrate Mission?

Perhaps "spend" its Espionage Points with the Spy to Poision your Water Supply? If the Spy dies, game over. If the Spy survives, where does it get transported to without a capital City? Does it just stay in place, continuing to run Spy missions on you until it gets caught?

Or is the AI "smart enough" to run and hide its Spies in neutral lands so that it won't be "stumbled upon" and die?

If the AI survives, will it potentially capitulate to you? Maybe you can then "direct it" to attack a particular AI in a war and if the only units it has remaining are Spies, its Spies may suicide themselves by being "stumbled upon."
