i have been running CIV III Complete for a while, no probs. I recently bought vanilla and conquests, and a new pc. now i try to install vanilla, no dice. i uninstalled complete thruogh 'add/remove' in control panel, was shown 2 listings and both remain after many tries and reboots. i cleaned the registry, re-uninstalled, and nada. all is still there. i want to run vanilla and conquests so i can play some scenarios and modpacks that are not compatible with 'complete'. this is making me a little bit more insane than usual... :crazyeye: my system is a compaq presario with an AMD Sempron 3400+, 2.5GHz ram, 200 GHz mem, all new within 2 mos. is there any way to do a clean uninstall? this is ridiculous, i'm losing precious gametime as well as sleep! thanx in advance...

thanks, that seems to be helping. i thought i had removed all traces, but i did a search and came up with about 30 more instances scattered all through the reg, and also in c:\backup... also, i had the demo of civ IV, and it had tentacles all over the place! :nuke: so i think i have removed all of it, i'm off to reboot and try to install again. wotta headache... thanks again. if it works, i'll post it in the other thread you showed me.

well, i cannot remove (or even find) the reference to civ III complete, and my uninstall prog (v-com system suite) refuses to remove it wherever it is. could the disc i have be a 'complete' disc in a vanilla package? it is copyrighted 2005, and that may be why the pc tries to repair the nonexistent file - but then crashes the loader. i also tried to read the disc, but when i click on the drive it just starts the loader. egad... :wallbash:
