Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread

Well, most of the screen (70-80%) is still visible. I just wonder if it will spread and get worse. If it does, I have no choice but to replace the monitor.

What you describe is crystal bleeding where the fine encapsulating layers have been physically broken and the crystals have leaked out of their place. It is unlikely to spread, but it might be causing undue stress on the electronics.

Alright, thanks for the advice everybody :). I think I'll just bear with it for now.

My air intake is on the top of my tower, but my mom always insists on putting a stuffed animal there. Is that bad?

Probably. Why do you have stuffed animals rather than cuddly toys?

Didn't aimee say the other day that she checked it by putting a piece of paper next to it?

If it is an intake, the animal will be fine if it doesn't cause the airflow to be slowed. The fact that stuffed animals feel warm is irrelevant in this case.

Yeah, it's an intake, I checked with the paper.

It's actually a cuddly toy (I think it's supposed to be a dog), but I've always called them stuffed animals. Don't know why.

Earlier today, Vista Indexing Service was going crazy. Why would this happen?

You installed something new? It had something to index?
Mine is always wonky after I install something big, like 100% RAM usage for 10 minutes.

Well, I did instlal a few things the previous day. And I was downloading a website with HTTrack.

Dang, I think I solved my own question!

There you go. It saw that the pc was idle and that there were new files. So it indexed them.

Why is it that my flash drive survived both dropping 6 feet to a concrete floor (I was on a ladder and had it around my neck and the string broke) AND going through the washing machine? Not even a single corrupted file!

Solid-state FTW!!!!!

So regarding my broken monitor, I've notice the black "ink" is disappearing. Where is it going?

Maybe back into the innards of the monitor? I tried googling and didn't get anything.
