Red Front 1.4-Capt Nemo and Alex the Magnificant
Marshall Level(deity)

turn1

I got pretty lucky only losing:
Kaunas
Bialystok
Brest-Litovsk
Lvov
Kishinev
Petsamo

Casualties
refugees-2
motorized infantry-8
red army-73-argh-iirc-germans get a unit for every one killed.

naval infantry-1
T-26 light tank-15
T-28 medium tank-13
AA battery-3
I-16 polikarpov-4
destroyer-1
cossacks-4
NKVD-4
Stalin Line-6
45mm-5
152mm-2
machine gun-4

German casualties light.

Heavy attacks over the entire front.
Axis forces moving on Odessa have reached the outskirts of the city.Doesnt look good.
Kiev will surely fall.
Heavy concentrations of German forces gathering near Minsk
Basically the line from Odessa to Riga is under real and heavy threat.
In the north,Petsamo fell on turn 1,threatening the vital port at Murmansk. Not much between there and Leningrad.Riga is toast next turn.
Tallinn was not attacked on turn 1 but I shall muster some defense there to try and slow the advance.Hopefully Ill be able to buy enough time to fortify Leningrad.I intend to hold it!
In the south the Caucasus must be held so heavy fortification will occur in Perekop and Rostov.Stalingrad will see its share also.
I will also attempt to hold at Kursk and Kharkov.Hopefully...
Ill have to see what happens before I draw the line up the middle.Moscow must be held though..obviously.
Minsk will strip down while defending as long as possible.Might not be too long

Ill have the tech for katyusha rockets next(attack 12),then go for Mobile Warfare 2 and KV1 tanks(attack 10-defense 9).Beyond that depends on whether I survive but Ill want IL-2 Shturmoviks. They are high attack planes(12) with 14 moves.

Now the work begins......

The Stalin Line is obliterated.Stukas are wreaking havoc.
Von Rundstedt captured Odessa in Aug.The way is open to Sevestopol.Perekop will be an important battle. It may fall but I hope to stall them for several turns here at least.
Kiev and the Ukraine Wheatfeilds(Pyramids) was sacked in Aug also.Another major blow.
Germans on the outskirts of Smolensk

KV-1 heavy tanks went into production with the invention of Mobile Warfare 2 in July arriving in Sept for action.
In August Advanced Flight 2 was researched.Advanced Flight 3 will give access to IL-2 Shturmoviks.I want to build some over the winter and be ready to see action in the spring/summer /42..but for now I must survive till winter. That is my time to hit back.

Smolensk is gearing up for a major stand.Kalinin to the north of Moscow is fortifying heavily.
Kursk and Kharkov are working hard but look a little thin right now.Trying to move forces there now.Germans are advancing rapidly in this sector. If it werenÕt for the marshes they would have arrived Òen massÓ in August.

Perekop and Rostov are heavily enforced. All nearby cities have sent units.

Stalingrad is pumping out the sheilds.Tankograd.A huge effort will be made to hold the Caucasus. If it is lost....so is the war.

I'm impressed with your progress in this scenario...I played it through once having taken 2 times before to get to grips of what was required (I was in stalemate...didn't play long enough to realise the germans collapse in 1944).

I blame the americans for the failure to take Berlin...we had our chance I believe but had gone for liberation of territory versus a concentrated push on Berlin.

I never completed the scenario as I tired in 1945 of moving units from russia to germany...too far! (I learned later to love the goto command...and how not to let it send your units OFF the roads...).

I'd like it very much if you played the TSFE scenario at hardest level as the allies or axis...

[This message has been edited by kittenOFchaos (edited September 02, 2001).]

Yes it is...nothing to fear

I'd love to play TSFE but I don't have a converted copy of it...yet....its a big one.Fair bit of work to convert correctly. Then it needs an applescript to replace the .bat otherwise it is a chore to load each "chapter"

No updates now.Turns are taking a long time right now.The Red Army is huge and Germans have some new weapons to play with.A new Panzer in particular...a counterattack has been launched in the Kursk sector.....

I'd hoped to make Berlin by August but things are bogging down...they're not done yet....

i played Red Front for the first time awhile ago and never wasa able to push back the germans I held them from taking the bulk of the caucus and moscow and on back. But they took Leningrad. I mainly screwed up because i didn't know the safe way to move the units from America to Murmansk.....

Well you could airlift from the UK.....but it is tricky moving freighters by the 1 section. You have to chain empty ships but it is an accept losses situation.I've lost some 20 odd freighters but they are making it.
Another thing you can do is fly bombers over the freighters.Take them as far north as possible and use the end turn keyboard shortcut to "cover" them.

I learned away to take out many airplanes and ships near the UK.I actually borrowed the idea from the ai.Just park on the mines. They will attack..and lose.Alot of Stukas perished this way....so did a # of my cruisers.I'd get all excited spotting a U-boat then attack it....suddenly remembering "it is on a mine dummy"

May

A bold strike resulted in the fall of Helsinki. It is hoped this will be the end of the Finnish conflict.

The Germans resisted hard but could not stave off the onslaught at Kherson

cities liberated:
Kherson
Nikolaev
Danzig
Kirovgrad
Finland
Helsinki

June

A major success in Hungary with the capture of Ploiesti.Katyushas pounded the resource rich city into submission

Cities liberated:

Ploiesti
Finland
Turku

July

its an event which now is happening behing the front lines

Germans fighting hard with new equipment.A mech unit with AA abilities has hurt the ILs effectiveness.New heavy panzers are very powerful.Fortunately the Germans cannot produce large numbers of these...yet
Elephants are strong but slow and defensively weak. They are being slaughtered..the few that show up.
Tigers get top priority before they can do much damage. The ILs fourteen move and see two range is very handy here for scouting them out.

cities liberated:
Bydgoszcz
Rostock-lost at end of month
Finland
Vaasha
Tampere

Aug

Very limited fighting.Mainly repelling the counter attack in the Kursk sector. The next months will see heavy re-enforcement.Its easy to over-extend the front.I shall return to methodical and somewhat tedious-re-enforce...re-enforce..re-enforce...winter attack....unless I see an opportunity.
Preparations for continued inland push in Hungary underway.4 feighter running back and forth from Sevastopol are bringing in large numbers of troops.

Comrade Smash, after looking at your map, in that situation i would do a drive at berlin from the bulk in the north and a drive at vienna from the Warsaw area.

Major battle at Bucharest and the city is taken. The Romanians immediately surrender and lay down their arms.Thats one capitol down.2 more to go.

Rostock is retaken after a heavy barrage by ÒLittle KateÓ Katyushas. This time we shall hold it.A steady stream of KV-1 heavy tanks have heavily re-enforced the city.

The Kursk counter offensive is failing miserably. The Red Army has more than adequate forces in the sector.

cities:
Rostock

Allied bombing raid hits Vienna

Germans attack hard at Rostock but the city holds.

Kursk is running red with Nazi blood.5 or 6 Yak fighters are taking out the event stack every turn.At least 10 units per...ILs swoop in and mop up whatever is left in the open near Bryansk.

Germans are attempting a counter offensive against Murmansk. No problems so far.

Last ditch effort by the Luftwaffe. They just donÕt have the punch now. There over 100 Red Army AA batteries in the front line cities now.

German battle cruisers beginning to be a pain in the shipping lanes.Very expensive to destroy.Takes at least 8 bombers per...I wonÕt even try if they are stacked together.I just keep running my chain thru ..IÕve needed 1-3 freighters per turn to keep it open since May.Murmansk builds 1,UK another and I recieve 1 via event in UK.Thats been enough to keep it supplied and have few extras ready.

cities:
Finland
Kuopio

Nov

Allied bombing raid hits Potsdam near Berlin

Major build up in all front line cities in preparation for winter.German units are stronger now so progress may be slower than before.Katyusha production in overdrive.

check out the insane trade being generated in Grozny

Nov 1943

Dam thing is crashing a fair bit.I have to save very often.I will finish if it lets me.Hopefully the next winter will cut down on the # of units in the game.Maybe that will help.So far,it has only happened when I am moving a unit..so, as long as I save often I'm ok

Dec

Allied bombing raid hits Kiel.

The USS Duke of York is assigned to help protect the shipping lanes.

Finland is destroyed as an independent nation with the capture of Kemi.

Poznan is captured in a bold strike. This also sets off an event which gives the Germans Volksstrum which allows Fortress Deutschland which is the Great Wall equivalent. The Red Army is now within reach of Berlin...

A huge month on the battlefield.Red Army losses were at their highest in some time this month.74 glorious regiments met their doom.Their families can take heart in the knowledge they took 3 times that many of the enemy.

A major attack by over 25 Katyusha divisions have sacked Berlin. However Hitler has apparently escaped to Budapest.First he fled to Hamburg, but when that city fell he was forced to flee once again.

cities:
Berlin
Hamburg
L,neburg
Potsdam
Brno

Germans resisting hard at Debrecen.Heavy losses have been taken here.Zhukov has taken personal charge of the situation

June 44(so far)

This has been a terrible month for the Germans. They are now feeling the wrath from 3 years of attrocities.

Cities liberated:
Prague
Belgrade
Wilhelmshaven
Hannover
Dresden
Kassel
Munster
Salzburg
Zagreb
Graz
Plzen
Sarajevo
Kolding
Dortmund

..and we're not finished yet.The Germans are completely broke.I get 0 rubles when capturing now.Just sell concentration camps and any power plants, sewers, aquaducts, libraries or universities.

I think I will declare total victory after this month. There may not be anything left

 I can't believe you won Red Front! I gave up after 25 of my tanks that are supposed to strike fear in the hearts of germans died trieing to kill one tank in a city. Another thing I hated was I used half my army to blow up the pontoon bridge only to find they can still move across and it gets killed by trigger anyway next turn!:mad: :midfinger But still the best made scenario ever in my opinion. (so far):goodjob:
