The Hero Within Us All

Welcome to The Hero Within, I believe this nes is completely original in it’s concept.

Background Story

In the past decade, the world has been through much suffering. Blitzman, after rampaging through Europe had been halted and driven back to Berlin. Europe is in ruins, as the attacks of Germany and Adolf Hitler had crumbled the once great cities of Europe. In Yalta, the great leaders of the world met to decide the future, Truman and Captain America representing the USA, Churchill and Union Jack representing the UK, and Stalin and Comrade Red representing the USSR. This fate would decide the future of the world, as Europe is divided into Spheres of Influence. These heroes returned to their respective countries with glory, for Captain America, Union Jack, and Comrade Red had helped defeat Blitzman and liberate Europe. These heroes were real heroes, superheroes. A new threat looms over the world, as the world is split into 2 camps. Now the true heroes must emerge, will you led your hero and your followers to save the world and bring peace, or will you attempt to take it over? Will you follow the orders of your nation you are loyal to, even though the orders may not be the right thing to do, or will you defy your leaders to try to prevent a nuclear holocaust? The world now needs a hero, will you be one?

Player Heroes
You can only be the superheroes or villains. You cannot control any nations unless you overthrow the government and take it over, but it will be very difficult as you have to taken the entire army of the nation.

NPC
All nations and a select couple superheroes or villains that I have plans for.

Organization
You control a superhero/villain and its organization. Your organization is your hero’s life. It has a secret HQ, which will be secret, so I will PM you the location or you PM me it. If you loose your HQ, you lose everything. Your HQ has to be on earth until I say so, and if you are aligned to a bloc, it has to be in your bloc’s territory or a neutral nation’s territory. No American bases in Russia. You can upgrade your base, but more on that later.

Economy
There will be no economy levels, but you have funds. These are represented in WC, (world currency). You need funds to do anything but how do you get funds you ask. Well basically anyway that is logical. Every turn you get a certain number of funds added to your stockpile from supporters and stuff, but you can get funds other ways. If you are a good guy, you can get them from rewards, gifts, loans, etc. If you are evil it is more fun, go rob banks, threaten third world countries, sell stuff on the Black Market (more on that later). You need funds for your organization, supplies, your henchmen, missions, and evil plots. At the beginning you will have a normal job, that you will get some money for. Kind of like a secret Identity, but this will only last so long.
Military
You will not have a military per se, you will have your henchmen which you hire, arm, and train. It costs funds to do this. Your superhero can not do everything alone, you need people to man your base and carry out missions. As time goes on you can get better weapons, vehicles, evil robots, nukes, anything you can think of. Price list is down below.

Headquarters
Your top secret Headquarter, can be located anywhere, just keep it secret because it is everything to you. You can upgrade it with pretty much anything you want, underground bunkers, anti aircraft batteries, missile silos, etc. These all cost funds. But hold your horses, did you think you will get a cool base already? Haha, that’s a good one. Everyone starts out in their basement, you must earn your HQ and respect.

Black market
There is a black market, controlled by me, if you want to try to purchase something, PM me and I will tell you the price. But be warned, if you order a nuke, you may get bomb casing full of old pinball machine parts. You will not always get what you paid for, but there are many valuable things on the market.

Evil Plots
So now that you got your base, henchmen and shiny new nuke, what are you going to do evil villain? Hmm, I’ll take over the world. Isn’t that everyone’s goal. So you have this grand scheme in your mind, why you have to plan it. It takes funds and good planning to detonate that nuke under Paris. All schemes have to be planned and take time to pull them off, for training and stuff. How big it is, the longer and more costly it will be. This will be secret, PM me if you want to start to plan a scheme. Minor operations do not need real planning and can be usually pulled off the turn it is ordered, and most require no funds. Mugging people or robbing the local 7-11 cost nothing even robbing the bank costs nothing, anything higher than that will cost something.

Intelligence
So now you ask, how will you stop Mr. Villain from sinking Bermuda into the sea, why you spy of course. This can also be used to find other details about the enemy or even your own friends. Put funds into spying and every turn you will get a PM of info, some may be true, some may be false. But it can be valuable and maybe help you save the world. Villains can do the same thing to the good guys.

Research
Put funds into research to build to invent your super robot of doom with the lazar beam and a build in microwave to make that popcorn when you are razing Mexico. Kind of self explanatory.

SUPERHERO LEVELS:

Every once in a while I’ll determine you deserve a “level up.” This is based upon things like successful villain plots, or defeating a villain. Something worthy. When you level up you’ll be able to upgrade 3 stats(see below). These are the following levels.

0) Loser with a Cape
1)Good Neighbor/Neighborhood Prankster
2) Hometown Hero/Villain
3) Province Hero/Villain
4) Well-Known Hero/Villain
5) Front Page Hero/Villain
6) National Hero/Villain
7) World-Wide Hero/Villain
8) Danger to yourself and others

SUPERHERO/VILLAIN ABILITIES: (thanks to Warman)

As your superhero begins to fight crime, or start it he/she will gain experience in their actions. As a result they’ll be able to gain many new abilities. You will start with 1 power of your choosing. You may only pick 3 abilities each time you level up out of a total of 24 abilities. As a result you’ll only have 1/2 of the total abilities, limiting yourself to a specialty or a balanced field. There are 6 abilities in 4 different fields each.

(You’ll need the one before you get to the next level. Everyone automatically starts with a “0" in every power)

Strength:
0) Muscular Person: Can lift 250 lbs
1) Extreme-Human Strength: Can lift 500 lbs
2) Super-Human Strength: Can lift 1000 lbs
3) Super Strength: Can lift 2000 lbs
4) Incredible Strength: Can lift 5,000 lbs
5)Unbelievable Strength: Can lift 10,000 lbs
6) “The Hulk”: Can lift 30,000 lbs

Speed/Agility:
0) Runner: Run 15 mph
1) World-Class Runner: Run 25 mph
2) Cheetah: Can run 40 mph
3) Super Speed: Can run 80 mph
4) Incredible Speed: Can run 120 mph
5) Unbelievable Speed: Can run 150 mph
6) “The Flash”: Can run 250 mph

Endurance:
0) Determined: You’ll be able to take some physical blows, but not guns.
1) Bear: Need a few good shots
2) Elephant: Need a lot of firepower
3) Bullet-Proof: Most small arms ineffective
4) Blast-proof: Immune to fire and small explosions now, eh?
5) NBC: Radiation? Viruses? Chemicals? No problem.
6) “Superman”: Nearly indestructible

Other Powers(There is no prerequisite for any) Can upgrade each power no more than once per level up. Every person starts with ONE power

Flight: I can fly like an eagle
1) Eagle: 60 mph
2) Jet Liner: 250 mph
3) Speed of sound: At the speed of sound

Laser Eyes: Cool, laser eyes
1) Short Range: Range of 20 feet.
2) Long range: Range of 100 feet and causes the target to burst into flames.
3) Laser of doom: Range of 300 feet and causes the target to explode

Telekinesis: Control things with your MIND!
1) Weak mind: Can lift up objects of up to 300 pounds.
2) Strong mind: Can lift up objects of up to 1000 pounds.
3) Uber mind: can lift up objects of up to 5000 pounds

Regeneration/Healer: be able to revive your wounds faster, along with heal your allies.
1) Minor Healer: Heal minor injuries
2) Major Healer: Regenerate Limbs
3) Jesus: Bring back the dead

Fire Generation
1) Lighter: Shoot small fire balls out of hands.
2) Torch: Shoot large fire balls out of hands and small streams of fire of up to 20 feet range.
3) Flamethrower: Shoot Large fire streams out of hands and can cover body with flames

Ice Breath
1) Frost: Can freeze objects for a short period of time.
2) Ice: Can freeze people and most objects, can freeze small flames, and fire streams of ice out of your hands.
3) Blizzard: Can freeze objects up to Absolute Zero, can freeze fire and anything that gets in your way.

Electricity
1)Spark: Generates minor bolts of electricity, strong enough to stun people.
2)Blot: Generates major bolts of electricity shoots them out of your hands, strong enough to kill people.
3)Lightening: Generates Lightening bolt from the sky, can generate very powerful electrice bolts from hands, hitting multiple starts

Weather
1)Minor Nature Controller: Can call up rain, moderate winds, light hail and moderate snow.
2) Major Nature Controller: Can call up heavy rain, Heavy winds, Heavy snow, moderate hail
3) Freak of Nature: Blizzards, thunder storms, tornados, Bolts of lightening, heavy hail

Invisibility
Dirty Glass: A little transparent, good for dark locations
Crystal Clear: Transparent, but some angles make you visible
Air: Perfectly invisible.

Stretch:
Armstrong: Sharp increase in reach.
Contortionist: Make simple shapes with your body
Clay: Mold yourself into nearly any form.

Telepathy:
Mind Reader: Read people's thought
Mind Trick: Wave your hand and make the weak minded do something
Mind Control: Control several people with your mind.

Terraform:
Ivy: Can control plants; plant growth
Shake: Can cause small shaking in the ground
Earthquake: Can cause small earthquakes.

Animals:
Zookeeper: Can get small animals to help you
Herder: Can control groups of animals
Gaia: Can fuse with an animal while controlling others.

Force Field
Shield: Can create a personal shield for a short period of time
Wall: Can create a protective bubble over a short range
Barrier: Strong protective bubble over a larger area.

Poison:
Cough: Create a teargas cloud
Hack: Create a mild poisonous gas cloud
Choke: Create a highly deadly poison gas cloud

The crash killed both the smugglers and Steve's friend; Steve was lucky, escaping only with minor head trauma. He now talks like a pirate and cruises the streets of Ontario, seeking criminals to bring to justice by.... raiding and pillaging. Arr!

Description:
The Harbinger of doom, the physical manifestation of Chaos or a least that’s what he tells people, but he was actually a part of a government research project to develop superhuman soldier’s but project was cancelled as the results weren’t satisfactory. The test subjects were killed one by one until they reached Subject14, he developed the best results from the project and used his powers to kill the guards, before escaping he destroyed a large part of the research centre.

Emperor Norton has an obvious goal; Conquer the United States and Mexico. Being mostly insane everything changed the day he sold his body to science and found himself with his new superpowers. His hobo henchmen will follow him willingly, knowing well that any harm can be healed by the powers of Eris, and someday Norton even hopes to conquer the entire world...

Emperor Norton is a devout follower of Discordianism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discordianism), he claims his powers were given to him by the godess eris to advance the cause of his religion, which he has assumed papal authority of.

His followers are Legionarres of Discordianism, part of the Legion of Dynamic Discord. He even posses an original page 00019 of the Principia Disordica, and quests to retreive all original pages of the holy text.

Claiming Faaris, the Black Horsemen.

Description:


In the ancient city of Istanbul, the city that was once the last bastion of Christianity in the Middle East known as Constainstople. The old days of the Crusader Kings in the Byzantine court have long since passed, and a Muslim government has been in power for over 400 years. The Ottoman Empire, the turkish Sultanate that conquered the Byzantine Empire has collasped into Turkey after the disatorus effects of World War I. Most people in Istanbul have forgotten the glory days of the Ottoman Empire, where the massive land empire brought gold and glory. There is one family, however, that has not forgotten.

Faaris Ali Nasser was born into rich family, and was rasied on a family farm. Faaris was told stories from his Grandfather as he grew up, about the glory of the Ottoman Empire. Faaris, being impressionable, took those stories to heart in the seclusion of his family home. It was with these glorious stories of the past that Faaris became a excellant horseback rider. It was in the bosom of war stories that Faaris learned from his grandfather how to shoot a gun, how to weild an axe and sword. How to fight on horseback. But all was not sunshine and roses for this boy, no, the other boys were not as accepting of young Faaris, jealous of all he was taught. He was excluded from his own age groups activeties, and no one spoke to him at Mosque. He grew bitter, and threw himself into the old stories, and into his horse.

Yet then, tragedy struck. While Faaris was riding his horse in the woods, a group of drunk and spiteful adults broke into his family home, and killed his parents and grandfather. Faaris arrived with his horse just in time to see his grandfather die. In a fit of rage, he grabbed an axe and screamed to his horse to attack the men. To his suprise, the horse obeyed. As well as a few birds in the vicinty. Faaris in the confusion of the animals attack, killed the attackers in cold blood with his axe, and was bathed in the blood of his family's killers. He cried, long after the police had come in gone, long after the funeral, long after he inheirted his parents will. He managed not to go to jail on account of self-defense, and not being in the right state of mind. It was a victory, but a hollow one.

Faaris had learned the cruelties of the world. He hungered for changed. He wanted the glories of the united Empire, were the laws were strictly enforced. He wanted revolution. After that day, he could control smaller animals, and he knew, that he would be the grand changer of the world...but...power corrupts, and how long can the grieving and bitter Faaris resist the temptation of carving a world in his own image, against all the opression that created him, only to create his own opression. The longer Faaris stares into the abyss of evil, the abyss stares back.

It had started simply enough. The plot of revenge, the plans for new hero to begin making a name for himself in Istanbul, to destory crime and prevent the travesty that resulted in his family's death to happen to another. He gathered his family's funds, and transformed his basement into...a base. A base for the hero to work out of. He hired several men to stock his basement with animals, birds mostly. His horse's stayed in his stables, well kept under his care.

Faaris was well gifted now, to take care of his animals. He knew what they wanted instintively. In return for his care, they served him and his goals well. His birds spied upon Istanbul, giving him infromation about hideouts of the scum of Istanbul. Of the corrupt and self-serving. His horses, he used for transportation. While it was not as fast as a car perhaps, it was far more fear-inspiring, what with Faaris's new purchases.

Faaris, the Dark Horseman

After several weeks of waiting, and spying, Faaris made a move against a minor gang. Using his animal control powers, he set up several birds out side the abandoned warehouse the gang was using. Trotting up to the door of the warehouse of the gang, Faaris gave a predatory grin, and sent a signal for the birds to begin. After that....all chaos erupted.

Lu'ay Sayad was not having a good day. Here he was, trying to enjoy a kick back after a hard day of harrassing the people in the lower Istanbul, and muging a few guys, and suddendly, a bunch of birds break through the windows, and begin circling the gathered group, who were merely there to swap money (illgained), and tales, honest! As horrible as that was, listening to a bunch of birds screeching as they cicled the men like vultures, waiting for them to die. Trying to get the damn birds out of the warehouse was the least of Lu'ay's worries through. As soon as the birds burst into the warehouse, someone started trying to break through the wooden door with an axe.

Losing paticence with all the commotion taking place around him, Lu'ay, generally the undisputed leader of the gang, yelled out in anger, "Who the hell is trying to break through the door! Would someone shut those damn birds up! " There was a silence for a moment, and even the birds stopped their cries. The axe that was attempting to break through the door only moments before was withdrawn, and there seemed to be peace after Lu'ay's outburst.

However, it was not to last. There was a resounding smash as the warehouse door fell off its hinges, and black war horse charged in on the collasping door, with what seemed to be the devil incarnate riding on top of it. The horseman's axe was strung in a strap at his side, and he wielded a wooden bow as he charged in. He seemed to smile at Lu'ay, but it was not a friendly smile. It seemed...hateful, spiteful even. The man notched an arrow to his bow in complete silience, the gang members awed to silience, to scared to move. "Boo" the man said, and let loose an arrow. It was at the moment, that everything seemed to happen, the birds began screeching, and dive bombed the gang members, a gang member was pierced in the leg by the arrow, and the gang members scrambled for weapons against the unknown assailent.

The rider began circling the group at a fast pace, corralling them into the center of the warehouse, picking the gang members off with non-lethal strikes. It was going well for the hero, no fatalities, just justice. It was a fools hope through, as one of the gang members scrambled out of the center, and dove for a coat. With drawing a pistol from the coat, the gang member aimed at the starstruck Faaris, and fired six times. Shocked at the attack Faaris did not move. The lone gun man, shaking from fear, and from his position on the ground, barely missed Faaris with the first shot, while the others he missed from the recoil. He missed Faris with the other five shots, but he didn't miss Faaris's horse.

The bullet wizzed by Faaris's head, and he lost his place upon the horse. He heard the next five shots and watched as his horsefell. In those shots, he remembered his family's death, in those shots, held the echo of the abyss. Blinded by red, Faaris attacked blindly with his remaining creatures, and his weapons. He killed the gang members in cold blood, even the ones that were already wounded. He revealed in their blood, his vision clouded by the rage of his family's, and now, his horse's passing. The last minute courage of Lu'ay did not save him in the end.

After the blood bath that followed Lu'ay's theatrics, Faaris awoke in pool of blood. He blinked, not remembering the events that had transpired. Raising himself of the floor he looked around at the various bodies and body parts that now scattered the warehouse. He saw, and remembered. He remembered enjoying cutting off his victim's arms, watching them bled as they pleaded for mercy. He watched as they died, their screams unhead in the birds fearsome cries. He drank from the head of the leader as the men screamed for Allah. He was Death to them, that was all he could be in the madness of the blood and tears, of the tourtured screams and the avian cries. "Sweet Allah, what have I become..." Faaris muttered to himself.

"death....death is so--col-d-d, father. He-l-l-p me, pl-l-ease." Faaris turned at the voice, a pitoeus man huddled in the corner. His hand was gone, and he was slowly bleeding to death among the corpses already there. He did not notice Faaris. He turned his head, and stared striaght at Faaris. Half-mad eye's begging for death. "P-l-l-ease de-e-ath, kil-l-l m-e." Faaris, horrified at what he had done, ran out of the warehouse, back to his home covered in blood. When the police finally arrived on reports of public distrubance, all they found were the dead, a horse, and a man wisphering "wh-y do you ru-n de-a-a-th? afri-ad of wha-t you h-a-a-ve bec-ome...?"

It was a slow death, but a death that would shape the world for a long time to come...

Description: Chef Brian is a clinically insane man who became convinced a colony of magical gnomes took up residence in his brain after a tragic gas leak occured in his kitchen. Whether these gnomes actually exist, or are the source of his unnatural powers, is unknown. His behavior is entirely unpredictable, as he bases his actions off of incomprehensible strings of words he hears in his mind.
