This is from the Entry in the civilopedia of the Bannor.

The Bannor started with a handful of people, trapped in hell during the fall of Braduk but rescued by Sabathiel, an angel in Junil's service. In exchange for their salvation, the spirits bound themselves and their descendants to ceaselessly battle the forces of chaos and disorder. As Sabathiel led the honourable spirits forth into the light, they formed the vanguard in a devastating war against the Clan of Embers, even more powerful then than they are today. Throughout the entire Age of Magic, the Bannor waged brutal and merciless war not only on the Clan, but on all who would not submit to law and order.

So apparantly it was still the age of Magic when the Bannor got out of Hell. Then the Age of ice hit, and it seems to have lasted at the very *least* 200 years, if not longer. (I recall somewhere one of the civ entries saying it lasted 1000 years, but that might have just been poetic.) Catch is, the Bannor ran into Orthus, during the time when he pops up in my FFH games in their first day out of hell, and he's still around, even after the Age of Ice ended.

Now, in "conventional" fantasy, humans tend to live 70-80ish years if they die naturally, exceptions going to powerful mages. Orcs usually live even shorter, notwithstanding their violent lifestyles. But at the very least, it seems like Orthus, who demonstrates no magical ability I see,(and I do not play End of winter, so it's already some time after Mulcarn bit the dust) is around 500 if not older.

So disregarding the wide variety of nasty fates that await, well, everyone, how long do people "naturally" live on Erebus?

Capria's still alive, too. That's not just the civ-style abstraction that lets George Washington lead the American Empire for 8000 years, either: Donal's entry explicitly shows her as an aging woman in the Age of Rebirth.

The Bannor didnt get out of hell until the end of the age of ice/begining of the age of rebirth. That last sentance is unclear. The Clan didn't actually exist until Bhall's fall which happened at the same time that the Braduk fell into hell.

Now I'm really confused. It says that the Bannor came out during the age of Magic in the civilopedia entry, and as I understand it, the Age of Magic was before the Age of Ice, which in turn was before the Age of rebirth......... Is the civilopedia entry incorrect?

By "unclear," Kael means "flat out wrong." It is probably meant to say age of rebirth.

It has been strongly implied that the Clan of Embers is composed (at least in large part) of the Bannor who were not dragged into hell with their goddess, but instead were warped mentally and physically by her fall. (Orthus could be Capria's cousin)

It has never been stated directly how long people in Erebus live, but it can vary greatly. The early generations of men, like the first generation of dwarves, were essentially immortal. Some, like Os-Gabella, are truely immortal. There area also magical way of sustaining ones life, often at a cost (lichdom, becoming a shade...) Elves of course are very long lived (several from the age of ice are still around, with little signs of aging), and are still basically considered children at age 40.

People live forever in other planes, like hell. There, aging is based on your state of mind. The first Bannor of the Age of Ice were born in the age of magic, although they did not live through the age of ice.

My bad, I think. The Bannor entry is pretty old. Kael should feel free to edit it to fit.
