Hi all,

I'm in Hertfordshire UK and am trying to set up a multiplayer game with a family member who lives in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I'm running XP with broadband, he's running Win98 with dial-up.We're both using Civ 2 MGE.

We managed to make a connection before he left the UK, (although my machine always failed to host a game) but now the machines won't connect at all.

Any ideas, firstly on why my machine hasn't yet been able to host (it's a secondary machine on a home network so I'm using the modem's IP address rather than the machine's.....is this correct? Tried the machine's IP too, didn't work either!) and secondly, on why I can't connect to his new IP address in Jakarta?

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Helen

The standard firewall in Windows XP will prevent hosting games, but not joining games, so this may be the problem. If so access the firewall and switch it off for the duration of the hosting, or get a more flexible firewall from the net somewhere
