Hi all! Now that I have Conquests, I will begin updating my maps and post them for general use. The first I am posting is my Algol map. It is standard-sized, with all 31 civs playable. I went back and added the new resources, such as sugar and tobacco, to my vanilla Algol map. I may post a version of this later with my Quasar mod. Here is a screenshot:

And here is the file:

Here is my Aldebaran map. It is also a pangaea. Screenshot:

I am modifying these as I go, alphabetically. (Yes I know, D comes before G):p . Aldebaran has 10 of 2 strategic resources, and 6 of the rest. Divide that by 31, and well, you may have to fight for some resources! At least I have made sugar and tobacco into tradable luxuries.

Here is the zip file for Aldebaran:

Here is another standard-sized map, Alphecca. It is even more crowded than the first 2, since all 31 starting locations are on the eastern continent. Sugar & tobacco are luxuries. Screenshot:

Think you can handle 30 other civs, all knocking on your door? Then try Alphecca! :D

Arcturus is a bright star in the constellation Bootes, the Oxherder. This is my vanilla civ Arcturus map, updated for Conquests. I added a bit more land, so that now 31 civs are playable. There are a few marshes and volcanoes added too. Cities can only be built on: forest, flood plain, plain and grassland. This increases the importance of colonies. I changed tobacco and sugar into tradable luxuries.

As you can see, Arcturus is basically a pangaea, though there are a few tiny offshore islands. However, it is a maze of peninsulas and isthumuses, so no land is really very far from the sea. Enjoy Arcturus! -Quasar1011, 16 Nov 2003

Ever wondered what it would be like on a planet that is mostly jungle? Then try my Alphertz map! I have re-done it for Conquests, so that up to 31 civs are playable. Here is a screenshot:

There are 31 squares, mostly located in the valleys, that are suitable for cities. This means you will need to build LOTS of workers to clear the jungle! Will your rivals do the same, or will they come after you? Find out by playing Alphertz!

Here is my Alkaid map. Again, standard-sized, 31 civs playable.

As you can see, Alkaid is a Pangaea. 3 major bays separate the land mass into sections though. The outer coastline is rugged, so the best ports are on the bays. Enjoy Alkaid!

Here is my Altair map, updated for Conquests.

Altair is an inverse world, with the land-water distribution opposite what is found on the planet called Earth. There is plenty of land, but your rivals may still attack by sea!

Here is my Antares map. Screenshot below:

What is unique about Antares, you say? Well, all 31 starting locations are on the mountainous interior. You may have to travel several tiles before finding a suitable city site. But the AI will have to do the same. Who can get off to the best start on Antares?

The 5th file I will post today is my Betelgeuse map (the name of this star is pronounced "Beetle Juice", yes, like the movie).

Betelgeuse is also challenging early, because all 31 starting locations are on the eastern continent! This means the western continent will be full of virgin prairies.. and barbarians! Will you slug it out on the old world, or head for the new? Enjoy Betelgeuse and these other maps! :)

Hello all! Today I will upload 6 new maps for Conquests. These are all standard-sized maps, with volcanoes and marshes added. I have also used landmark terrain for hills, and turned them into chasms. The 6 maps I will upload are Canopus, Capella, Castor, Denebola, Diphda, and Dubhe. I will post screenshots of the maps, short descriptions, plus the file. First, here is the Canopus map:

Canopus is a star in the ancient constellation Argo. Up to 31 Civilizations, updated for Conquests. Frequency of plagues and volcanoes increased. It will be crowded early, with 10-11 civs per continent. The offshore islands contain a few goodies, so don't ignore these. Here is the zip file for Canopus:

This is a planet in the Capella star system. There are 2 main oceans on this planet. There are 31 civilizations available at the start. If you play with 31, it will get crowded. Resources are not evenly distributed, and luxuries tend to be clumped together. (Radar) Artillery has lethal bombard.

Screenshot:

I have turned sugar and tobacco into luxuries in these maps. Yes, the AI uses them:

Hmm, I can't attach a file once I've posted. I will attach the Capella file right after my post on Dubhe, so look for it there.

This scenario features a planet in the Castor star system. There are 4 main continents on a standard sized map. There are plenty of rivers and goody huts. Each continent has 7-8 player starting locations, so you can have up to 31 civilizations. Each continent is missing one strategic mineral, though horses are common to all. Also, each luxury item is found on one continent only. This makes early sea exploration and trade very important on Castor. Barbarian activity is set to restless, and they have quite a few camps. This is a planet in the Denebola star system. The are 8 continents on this planet, with 32 starting locations. That's 4 per island, though one will have 3. The tobacco and sugar resources are luxuries. (Radar) Artillery has lethal bombard. Barbarians will be a problem at the start. They tend to camp at bonus and luxury resource sites, though the only metal they know is gold. Screenshot of Denebola:

This is a planet in the Diphda star system. The are 8 continents on this planet, with 32 starting locations. That's 4 per island, though one will have 3 in actuality. The tobacco and sugar resources are luxuries. (Radar) Artillery has lethal bombard. Barbarians will be a problem at the start. You may want to explore the several small offshore islands. Dubhe is a pangaea on a standard-sized map. Its outer coastline is rugged; however, there are 3 great seas in the interior. Of 31 starting locations, 1 is in a position to connect a sea to the ocean. Resources are limited on Dubhe, though there are plenty of rivers. There are lots of volcanoes, though they are in remote regions and generally won't affect gameplay. Generally, that is...

Here is the zip file for Dubhe :

They're great.
what are those borders?
Could you do an Apus or Vulpeccula map?

Which borders are you referring to? The Mongol tobacco colony in that one screenshot?

I name my maps after stars, not entire constellations. I did do both a Pleiades and Hyades map for Civ 2, though these are star clusters, not constellations either. If you would like me to do a map, and name it Anser (Alpha Vulpecculis), that would be cool. But Apus has no classically named stars, that I am aware of.
