Should the President get unlimited power during a civil emergancy..ie. Famine, war and have the right to declare a martial law in which he or she can do what is necessary without public intervention to more effectively run the government and the nations resources without fear of retribution to lead the nation to saviour......i think thats a good idea and should be considered to be added to the constitution.....in some constitituions in real world the military has the right to take full command in war, etc with civil departments.......id like to host a poll later on this but first id like to hear wat the people think?

regards ali

Absolutely not. There is no 'emergency' in the demogame because we can always pause the game and discuss among the citizens (which is what happened in the recent war when the Romans brought the Babylonians in on their side). The president already has a lot of power and in the current climate I don't think people will want to give more (nothing about Chieftess, just the current climate). Famine doesn't happen on a nationwide scale in Civ, War is discussed by the people already

Then the WOTP will not be followed. I would not support this constitutional admendment. The checks and balances are already available. If you gave too much power to the President, then this will cease to be a DemoGame.

Back in the early demogames, it was the military advisor who took control if we mobilized (mobilization). Granted, there's a known bug where mobilization is buggy (can raise or lower a city's shield count if you aren't careful).

Yea thats the idea we should hold that the military take full control at mobilization :)

The only emergency that cannot be by-passed by stopping the chat and take it to the forum is a demand on us that is made.
But this is easily preventable if the Foreign Affairs Minister instructs beforehand what should be done about it.

I'm against more power to the President. And I'm against the Military taking over when we choose Mobilization. Instead of a democracy we'll mimic a coup d' etat; not acceptable.

P.S. do I count as an aussie; I've lived there nearly a year

This is like the question "Which do you hold higher, the WOTP or the stability of the government" and whomever answers with the second one would surely not be re/elected as president.

No. You are not a dinky-die, true blue Aussie cobbler, mate.

come now you cant go around calling people a australian, its insulting ;)

...................................................................................................

a little off topic how about any city taken is during war time is undercontrol of the military leader until peace is made with the nation that the city belonged to. and any city under attack, or threat of attack under military control.

I thought the old rule didnt make the military leader dictator just DP.

lol meh......yea well its better than a kiwi....hey chum,s meet my girlfriend (shows the local sheep) lol :p kidding mate (Nobody)

hery notice u live in WA anywhere near Rockingham??
I live in the Mid Northern suburbs, just to the right of the Mitchel Freeway. I have noticed that there are a few registered for the demogame that live in WA. I presume you live near Rockingham.

I can't help but be reminded of one particular elected chief of state who solidified power in a national emergancy. Also happened to be a national socialist. ;)

And in response to whether I think we should do this: NO
