I was brought into a war I didn't want with the MPP. I vowed it would be the last time I signed one of those.
I didn't have the logistics to fight the war decisively. I also didn't want to capture distant enemy cities or raze them at a detriment to my rep. Therefore, I captured their two sources of uranium and bombarded their iron and horses with my battleships, destroyers, and bombers. When their uranium and iron supply ceased, I saw my ally make significant gains. When I bombarded their supply of horses, they signed peace treaties all around.
I was surprised at the effectiveness of my strategic bombing campaign. The Chinese are wussies without their riders. The majority of the war required 1 battleship, 1 destroyer, 1 submarine, 6 bombers, 6 fighters, 6 tanks, and 2 infantry (and a transport). Considering my offensive would require a force many times larger for a decisive victory, I consider my campaign a success.
It also helped that my one capture on the war machine's mainland was surrounded by mountains. I bombarded and pillaged as many roads around the capture as I could. Then I just bombed the attacking units as they traversed the mountains. I felt like the Americans 'fighting' the Taliban.
Warlord, All Civs in early Modern Age during war, 4 civ start, lots 'o land
