Convert Bug?

I don't know if I'm missing the obvious, or if BtS is a bag full of bugs.

Most times I can never get the convert option to even show up in the diplomacy level. Makes no sense. Yet other times it works fine from the get-go. I should still be able to get the option for converting an AI the instant he has a choice between two religions correct?

I also noticed many other weird things, for example Trade Networks doesn't work right for workers anymore. They start spamming cottages and farms all over (not supposed to do that!!).

The converting can be prevented by several things: they are in anarchy, they are in free religion, they just switched religion (you do have to wait 5 turns, right? i don't remember for certain). I assume you're talking about not even seeing the option, not about it being redded out.

The Trade Networks thing seems to be buggy indeed.

Well something is off. Because there was no way they have free religion right off the bat. And when there is only 2 religions one civ may have, I can't figure out why it's not letting me do this most the time. I also was watching their tech through spy points, and rarely are they going through anarchy.

Something needs to be fixed bad.

i'm sure you know this already, but for the sake of completeness ... you should get the option for converting an AI the instant that he has a choice between two religions, as long as you are using the one that he's not. can't ask him to convert/adopt any religion or civic you're not in yourself.

yes trade networks is bugged as all get out. that is supposedly fixed in the soon-to-be-released patch, yay!

Nope, the rules for conversion are far stricter than that. As with civics you may only ask an AI to convert to your religion, not to any religion. Basically, for the convert option to appear:

1)The AI must be running a state religion. Convert will not appear as an option for a civ with no religion or a civ running Free Religion.

2)You must be running a state religion which is not the same as the AI.

3)Your religion must be present in at least one of the AI's cities (and it is likely the option will be redded out even if present unless it is in most of their cities).

4)The AI must not be in anarchy or have changed religions in the last 5 turns.

This is a known issue and I think it's down for getting fixed in 3.13.

i'm certain i've gotten AI demands to adopt their religion when i'm running NSR for fear of taking a political side. in fact i sometimes wait before adopting one early game if i don't need the happiness, hoping that they ask so that i get a +1.

edit: oh i gotcha. you're not saying that you can't ask/demand that someone who has access to your state religion but is running no religion at all start using your religion. you're being technical about the word convert vs adopt.

I read this somewhere, but only once did I get this as an issue. Almost every time the AI used to have even more cities run by hinduism, I can get them to convert to taoism instantly by simply just making sure the first city I spread to is their CAPITAL. It seems capitals over-ride just about everything else.

The only time I had this issue where (not enough faith) was an issue was one time when the capital and other cities near it had been spammed by the offender.

It's probably not about the number of cities, but about population percentage. The capital usually has a pretty high population so the AI will be more interested in converting once you spread the religion there. Converting a small sized city near your borders won't do you any good, you'll probably need 3 or 4 of those to make them think about it. Also, if you don't spread the religion a lot, and they have founded a religion they will switch back pretty fast too.

Im finding some bugs with the apostalic palace as well. I adapted the same religion as the founder... I also was a full voting member, yet I was not getting any production bonuses from my religions buildings.

Hmm, I know I HAVE seen this work before. I am not sure why I'd fail to get the bonus in this case.

that's weird. do you have mass media? the AP goes obsolete when the owner discovers MM, i wouldn't think your bonus hammers go obsolete for you when you learn it if he hasn't tho? it was all the religious buildings? after you learn SciM you do lose the hammers from monasteries, but the temples/caths should still work.

No, I didn't get them starting from the beginning.

I was somewhat worried of buying BtS so early... I thought there was some sort of beta test team somewhere, or is all that a myth?
