Converting units from civilization 4 to civilization 4 colonization

I have some units that I have been tweaking in civilization 4 that I would like to use in civ4 colonization but when I try to add them to civ4 colonization the game crashes when I try to view the unit in the civilopedia/spawn the unit in game.

It is odd because I have seen mods that have units from civ 4.

Does anyone know how to convert units from civ 4 into units that can be used in civ4 colonization?

In case this helps the units were using the modern worker, marines, and the incanquechua animations (all contained in the folder with the unit).

Yes, fortunately it is very possible to convert nif graphics from Civ4. The best resource to look at is Deliverator's detailed tutorial here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=317419
BTW I think the Modern Worker and Marines nifs may already be imported in the 2071 mod. Good luck and happy modding!

Deliverator wrote an excellent tutorial on this subject in this THREAD

The main point though on getting custom units into the game, which is probably what you are trying to do, can be found a few replies down HERE.

When you try the import/export suggestion you may need to right click once on the unit itself to select it before you export. That was the only way I got it to work. You can see in my Medieval: Conquest mod that there are a ton of Custom units and most of them I got into the mod using the above advice.
