We have a couple of long threads on food. This one is particularly suited to the holidays when young children are around. Give recipes suitable for the very young.

    Magic Disappearing Marshmallow Rolls

    Marshmallows
    Butter, melted
    Cinnamon and sugar mix
    Tinned crescent roll dough
    Glaze, one recipe

Separate crescent roll dough into individual triangles
Roll a marshmallow in butter then cinnamon sugar
Wrap the marshmallow in one triangle of dough
Place in the cup of a muffin pan
Repeat until all dough is used.
Bake at 375° for eight to ten minutes, until golden brown
    Glaze
The marshmallow will melt, causing the roll to be hollow. Hence, the name.

Remember when cooking with children that the moisture content is still relatively high.

Nothing sufficient temperature and convection can't solve, but it is a useful tip indeed.

Only if you use real Girl Scouts in your cookies.

Old joke: A Girl Scout comes to the door delivering orders. The wife reminds the husband of his diet. The husband tells his wife, "I only ordered one box."

Maybe I'm an idiot, or it's an Americanism, but I don't get the above joke.

Albert Fish had some good tips for cooking with children.

A case is ten boxes of cookies. That carton would be six cases, ie 60 boxes of cookies, not one.

This is a taste of my childhood since there was a time my family was gluten-free. Not baking, but a cookie none the less.

    Haystacks

    1/2 cup milk
    2 cups sugar
    1 stick butter
    3 Tbsp cocoa
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1 tsp vanilla
    3 cups quick cooking oatmeal

Mix sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa and bring to a boil.
    Boil one timed minute.
Blend in vanilla and peanut butter.
    Pour over oatmeal and mix.
Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper. Cool.

    • The cocoa is optional. Without it, you get an oatmeal-peanut butter cookie.
    • It is important to use quick oats, not rolled oats or minute oats.
    • You can also add chopped nuts, sunflower seeds, shredded coconut, raisins, or other dried fruit with the oatmeal.
    • As with all sweets, just a bit of salt helps.

FTFY That was Twilight Zone and later Dr. Who.

You're too modest, but I will take your proposal under advisement.

My kid's like making those christmas wreath cookies.

You just melt marshmallows with some butter, mix in green food coloring and corn flakes, shape however you want, top with cinnamon candies.

Puppy chow is a really good holiday snack too. I think it also goes by muddy buddies.

Melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and regular butter together, add chex or crispix cereal and stir to coat. Then you put powdered sugar in a zip lock and add the cereal mix to it and shake to coat.

That depends entirely on the taste of the hats in question.

Those look so much like chili pequin.
