Fan-created art that accompanies a cute Merlin story I found on Archive Of Our Own. The plot involves Gwaine trying to manage feeling depressed and insomniac, and in a conversation with Merlin, he happens to mention that he likes cats and misses the cat he had before he left home.

Merlin impulsively decides to turn himself into a cat, pretending to be a stray that just wandered into Camelot one day. Gwaine is delighted with his new friend, not suspecting it's really Merlin (he doesn't know about Merlin's magic in this story). The cat's mannerisms and friendliness remind him of Merlin, though - so he names the cat Merlin.

Two male bison fight during rutting season. This was taken in 2020, but the US Park Service and Dept. of the Interior have been reposting it as a warning to the morons among us. Rutting season is mid-July through August. Adult male bison stand about 6'/1.83m at the shoulder, weigh 2,000 lbs/900kg, and can charge at about 35 mph/56 kph. A woman got gored in Yellowstone the other day. Witnesses said she wasn't doing anything to it and she wasn't especially near the animal. It just decided she had to go. She survived. [Screw] around and find out.

On the one hand, I'd have a lot of books handy.

On the other hand, I don't honestly know how a stained-glass environment like that would affect me, as in would it let in enough natural sunlight, would it help cast weird shadows, and while it's pretty at a quick glance, would it be too busy to look at on a long-term basis?

The candles would have to go, though. I'm allergic to scented candles and aromatherapy stuff.

Surely the problem is the lack of curtains. I am sure it would be lovely at times, but a lot more of the time one would be trying to sleep with the sun shining on you.

If the windows face north, that wouldn't be a problem except in the summer.

But yeah, I'd forgotten about that. I have vertical blinds in the room I sleep in and I never open them.

Plus, if you knock anything over, you're liable to crack or break any of the hundreds of glass panels in that room.

Yeah, it's one of those "beautiful to look at, impractical to live in" kinds of places. But it is a cool picture.

apparently this happens at the Equator for 2 days a year ...

like because the sun is directly "up" with no angles to form shadows .

Oh, that's quite pleasing. The ladder is not at all accessible though, you're right.

I'd love to have that as a cozy den/study type room, but not as a bedroom.
