Cool Pictures 14: no , it wasn't me who painted Mona Lisa

For some reason I thought Dundas St was longer... that street goes all the way to Hamilton!

We have a Dundas St in Christchurch. Amusingly it is very short.

Looks like the Guiness book of world records entry for this was removed, and might have been a "misconception" in that some people considered the highway 11 "extension" of Yonge to be a part of it, while it really isn't. So.. yeah Dundas definitely seems longer, it runs to London Ontario and beyond, it seems. Many people still repeat the "yonge street is the longest street in Canada" bit though, I suspect that will continue for some time even though it doesn't seem to be true anymore (and maybe never was?)

The men in the photo were part of a diplomatic mission led by Ikeda Nagaoki, a 27-year-old samurai and governor, sent to Europe by the Tokugawa shogunate.

Their mission was a bit strange, almost surreal, even by 19th-century standards:

👉 Convince France to close the port of Yokohama
👉 Restore Japan’s isolation from global trade

They were sent to stop Japan's entry into globalization — by traveling across the globalized world.

It's a Pushmipullyu!
