Corn is King

Burning transfats to angsty music sounds even more unhealthy.

I know, but I like to maximise my corn sometimes.

Today, the vast majority of the nation's two primary crops grow from seeds genetically altered according to Monsanto company patents.

Ninety-three percent of soybeans. Eighty percent of corn.

The seeds represent "probably the most revolutionary event in grain crops over the last 30 years," said Geno Lowe, a Salisbury, Md., soybean farmer.

But for farmers such as Lowe, prices of the Monsanto-patented seeds have steadily increased, roughly doubling during the past decade, to about $50 for a 50-pound bag of soybean seed, according to seed dealers.

The revolution, and Monsanto's dominant role in the nation's agriculture, has not unfolded without complaint. Farmers have decried the price increases, and competitors say the company has ruthlessly stifled competition.

Apparently, Monsanto might deserve some trust-busting from the Feds. Hopefully, this will help build momentum towards reducing the subsidies.

What TF is "white vinegar"?

I dont see how corn is involved in white wine or cider vinegar. Thats grapes and apples

White vinegar is just pure acetic acid. Delicious.

Wasn't Monsanto the maker of Agent Orange? yum, the best in the business

But if it's unhealthy for the cows, wouldn't that encourage the farmers to use a different diet?
Farms don't care about the health of the cows, they care about the weight. If human-eating aliens enslaved us they'd want us as fat as possible while still able to not keel over & die on the cheapest possible feed. The cows' long-term health is irrelevant, they just need to keep them alive long enough to reach the slaughterhouse.

But dairy cows don't go to the slaughterhouse. At least not for years. The ability to produce good milk is what counts. And I would think that requires a certain level of good health.

Dairy cows are treated very well, the get impregnated and then as the start to lactate the fetus gets aborted! good milk does matter, cheap milk does, that's why I get milk from cows that almost exclusively eat grass (some corn is mixed in during the winter), I can drive by and watch them eat

I got a bunch of organic grass-fed sour cream at the health food store last night for 59cent per 12oz. It's usually $4.29 per 12oz but it was set to expire today (it really stays fresh about two weeks longer) so I snatched up four containers worth! :)
