Dear all,

I dont think i contributed much to the forum but I keep asking questions, sorry for that. Here it is:

I have corp HQ in my city, brings me $5 per turn per corp branch in every other city.

Each branch generates tons of culture per host city and some hammer plus about $8 maitenance cost. So far thats straigthforward.

Questions:
When I open a branch in foreign city, I get the $5 to my HQ. Where do the hammers go to? And the most important: the culture, will the branch spread MY culture in foreign city? I went to wordbuilder to check it but I could not find a way to get into a city screen. Also, what about the maitenance cost, which side pays that?

Also, if I have a corp using Iron, and I have only one Iron, will the corp use all the iron I have so I cannot use it for units?

thanks guy, hopefully you can help another totally addicted civ maniac.

The benefits that accrue to the city (hammers, culture, food, etc.) and the maintenance cost all go to the owner of that city. Only the HQ's 5 gpt go to the founder.
But, if you have a bank, market, and wall street (and mall or mint, if applicable) that 5 gold per turn becomes 15 gold per turn, really an outrageous sum and worth giving foreign civs (except for maybe your top rivals) some hammers or culture or food (probably not oil or aluminum, unless they already had some.)

Also, if I have a corp using Iron, and I have only one Iron, will the corp use all the iron I have so I cannot use it for units?
Resources used by corporations are still availible for any other use they might have, like building units or powering factories.

P.S. I'm sure using the forum search for "corporations" will turn up many useful threads. ;)

The hammers go to boost AI production, so there's a trade off. Is the 5 (15 with the right buildings) gold per turn worth giving the AI a production boost?

And the most important: the culture, will the branch spread MY culture in foreign city?

No, it will spread THEIR culture in the foreign city.

Also, what about the maitenance cost, which side pays that?

Whoever owns the city with the corporation branch pays the maintenance. If you spread your corporation to a foreign city, they'll pay the maintenance costs for the branches in their cities.

Also, if I have a corp using Iron, and I have only one Iron, will the corp use all the iron I have so I cannot use it for units?

No, you can still use the iron to build units as normal. While the manual may refer to a corporation "consuming" resources, this is a poorly chosen word.

I've written a basic guide to corporation use that you might find interesting. The link's in my sig.

Instead of saying a corp "consumes" resources, I think a better word would be "utilises".
Each branch in a foreign city provides that city with a bonus appropriate to the number of utilised resources available to it and saddles the city witha maintenance cost: each such branch does, of course, add 5 gold (base) in your HQ city. In my current game, Huayna is busy spreading my Mining Inc to all his cities, although he has only one Iron and one Stone and so gets little benefit: the maintenance costs have brought him down to only 10% spent on Research (and nothing on Espionage), so he's falling severely behind on techs and thus can't use his slight extra production to train more modern units. Moreover, he'll soon have built every available building in all his cities, so I foresee hordes of outdated units becoming available to give my forces lots of XPs, one at a time. That is, when he's produced enough Workers to keep at least two on every one of his resources and many of his mines and farms, ready to rebuild as soon as my army of Spies has performed sabotage. Oh, how I love Spies ! Without Huayna's efforts, my corp would run at a loss, very unlike corps in the real world.

Thanks guys! This GUIDE is what I was searching for - it will go on my PDA at once for before the sleep reading.

Thanks again!
