We are going to be upgraded to a 64-bit Linux 2.6.x system very soon (next weekend?). It has a 16TB limit on table size. ;)

#What does this do to the costs of running this website?
#Is the Ad-revenue sufficient to keep things tip-top?
#Has the forum having problems with increasing frequency a sign of funding problems?
#Should I be worred the love of my life will be taken from me? ;)

What IglooDude said. ;)

And, don't forget, we're the largest site that our host serves. While they won't (and shouldn't) do anything we ask, just cause we want it, they're also not likely to kick us out because we're bringing them so much traffic, either.

The last I checked, the Linux OS is free (The majority of the Linux distros)

You don't pay for the linux distro, you pay for the support. ;)

Exactly. ;) Red Hat Enterprise Linux comes with a moderately hefty support fee (less than Windows fees, but still significant). CentOS, which is a clone of RHEL, minus the trademarked bits, and provides no support (it assumes you can do it all yourself), is totally free.

Aside from which, the real cost of hosted services tends to be in the physical rackspace (datacenter rack footprints don't come cheap; my company was paying something like $12K/month for four full-height racks at an AT&T facility) and the bandwidth (a few grand a month for a T3 pipe), AFAIK.

You were banned for that long?!!!? i can't imagine being banned for that long...

anyway, is the main source of income for this site the ads?

Yeah, we're really not going to talk about ban lengths.

I think TF covers the shortfall from his own pocket, but from what I understand it's at best a break even proposition.

I bet he is sitting on a pile of rubies, fanned by beautiful enuichs.

Seriously. The amount of hassel this we (the forum) must generate... i'd be wanting a wage out of it.

Don't worry too much about it. The ad revenue from the site is sufficient to cover the cost.
