Cost of the crisis - 10 000$/person

...in the rich G20 countries. 10 000 billion dollars is what these countries have "invested" and distributed on the 1 billion inhabitants it around 10 000$. Whom do we owe this money?

I agree. We owe this money to idiots.
 
Well, given that many, if not most people pay more than $10 000 in tax, it is hardly surprising that the government, you know, actually spends it?
 
Whatever gets the economy back on track, as long as the government doesn't pull people down in the process.

I could jump start the economy of yachts and cigars.

Well, so did the bankers who got the bailout.
 
Most of that money, though, was guaranteeing banks... so it's only cost us that if all the banks fail, no? And a trillion or two of that was just what we didn't make in economic growth, so that money wasn't real to begin with...

Seems like anyone able to lend money will be making it in interest on debt, assuming borrowers can pay it back.
