The map that gyathaar designed for COTM 23 is most-kindly described by euphemisms such as 'challenging' or 'unusual' - in his own words, it was 'your worst nightmare', and I think that's a fairly accurate description!

It did create a very unusual results table - there was not a single, solitary conquest victory! In addition, the top two places went to diplomatic wins, with a spaceship third.

In first place was the only predator-class entry - Chamnix, a long-time stalwart of the COTM/GOTMs (39 entries!) grabbed his first medal, and got the best colour. In second, diplo-specialist-apparent archphoenix also grabbed his first medal, but also got a shiny parchment award to go with his COTM 53 parchment. In third place, occasional player Lamprey returned from a long absence to also grab his first medal.

    Summary of Medal Winners:

Chamnix: 1500 AD Diplomatic Victory, 6,101 points.

archphoenix: 1455 AD Diplomatic Victory, 6,026 points.

Lamprey: 1550 AD Spaceship Victory, 5,691 points.

Well I was going for the cow award and accidentally got 2 more awards!

Earlier on I challenged anyone to get a sub 1000 conquest victory and I would come around to your country and shake your hand.

As it turns out, it was a pretty safe bet with no-one getting a conquest victory!

Congrats to everyone who slugged their way through the desert.
Special congrats to archphoenix for only playing for 2 hours :)

Not much to write up really

A slow slug across the desert. Railroaded from South to North of the desert for faster transportation later on.

Then slowly took out the other continent.
