Open, going for Space.

Industrial Age in 810AD, 2 turns into GA after capturing Pyramids (Mongols) and building Copernicus. 4-turn research throughout.

I concentrated mainly on ICS'ing the southern part of the continent, this allowed research at only 50-60% mostly (70% in the Modern Era) whilst still maintaining the 4-turn pace.

One thing I did learn: you can re-assign specialists from the F1 screen! I even made a small popheads graphics mod to make it easier to tell Scientists from Taxmen (it made the city screen specialists look a bit odd as they use the same files - but for the improvement to the usability of the F1 screen it was a small price to pay).

I attacked Japan for extra territory (ended up with ~58%) and a 6th Luxury - this allows 0% lux tax with size 12 cities with Markets. Also I finished off Sumeria once in the Modern Era.

I timed ToE to finish with my last Industrial tech, used it to slingshot Computers+Miniaturization, and flipped a Palace pre-build to The Internet for instant free Research Labs on the first Modern turn. The two Scis (Sumeria, Byz) also provided Fission & Rocketry as their free techs so I got a nice jump-start!

My spaceship was launched in 1470AD. ~20 turns shy of what it might have been, all turns lost during the Sumerian war and its many many flips.

Open. Losing Expansive Trait is too painful. :shifty:

Sorry, I took notes just casually

Scout NW-W uncovers floodplains with wheat! Spear S finds fresh water.
Settler moves N-N-NW. worker improves BG first for shields.

3850 Washington W of wheat. Full speed for Rep-Slingshot.
3800 Mongols.
3350 Zulus. Nice neighbours

1425 Republic Slingshot. 5 turns anarchy... :ack:
825 Get HBR from Zulus, enter MA, Sumeria gets Feudalism. No trade for Republic & Literature :(

630 attack Mongols to capture two settlers, get MGL, rush FP.

[...] Finish off Mongols, Sumeria plays OCC on a one-tile-island. ICS like mad. :suicide:

360 AD reach Industrial Age. Sumeria gets Medicine, Byzantines Steam Power. :bounce:
Buy Steam for 305 gpt :ack: Get 221gpt back for Medicine...
400 AD Japan captured Entremont's TGL and rode the elevator to IA
430 AD Newton's built, Golden Age started.
840 AD reach Modern Times. Sumeria gets Computers, Byzantines Fission :bounce:

Result:
Game status: Spaceship Victory for America
Game date: 1250 AD
Firaxis score: 6507
Jason score: 10744
Time played: 24:22:16

Thank you Paul#42! C3C Space is my huge sticking point, I just can't get that award for love nor micro. So I was pretty devastated to see that I managed to stay ahead of Eldar (space in 1385ad), except for that accidental domination in 1350ad. I forgot about the cultural expansion from the Internet labs, and my newly acquired Sumerian territory pushed me 17 tiles over. So it's some kind of relief  that I wouldn't have won anyway.

1250AD is a phenomenal SS date for any G/COTM - I don't think there have been many faster.

If I can help you like this, I will be happy to do it again :D

Thanks, this time I was lucky with the AI's free techs, some make-up for the disappointing support in Cotm 39. :thanx:
Of course hitting 4-turn-research early (beginning of the IA?) was crucial, too.

...accidental domination in 1350ad. ...
Here's a  for you to cry in. Just my luck that your accidental domination win would beat my deliberate domination win. :p

Gah, you're a bad man. I had too many of those already, but as it's going free I'll have another.
Don't sweat the doms. Ignas already posted one in the 2nd spoiler, and I advise you not to check the date, because it makes us look like rank amateurs.
